Thanks for weighing in ! Are you thinking you'll also pursue some sort of remedy ? I think the more of these cases they get, the more attention they'll devote to investigation.
Agreed, but they did commit to continuing to investigate until I'm satisfied. It will go back to them next week. Would have left it with them, but have a road trip this week.
It's got to be either the KDSS or a spring issue. Hopefully as simple as bleeding KDSS or calibrating pressure.
I don’t follow. They don’t all do it. That’s the issue. The dealer is saying my lean is within spec, but they don’t all exhibit a lean. So there is a cause. It may be considered within spec, but if every single truck doesn’t have it, it’s not an intended design feature.
Yea, another OT roof rack for sale / available. I ordered aftermarket and don’t need it.
I’m in Memphis if anyone wants to pickup. I will also coordinate shipping via UShip. I just did a set of wheels and tires through them for 300. This would be even cheaper.
If interested just make a...
Holy crap. I just took mine off today and just went to look at it in the garage. It also has that strip on there with adhesive. Can’t imagine what purpose it would serve …
I don’t notice any inconsistency in handling as a result, but then again I’ve only driven as it sits now. So no point of reference for comparison.
As an update - I did go to the dealer on Friday, and the lead tech was super cool and let me come back to the shop, put it on a rack and inspect...
I did those on my Gen 4 Runner. They were better but you should check the offsets. You’ll want some positive offset. But can prob get a little more width using spacers.
Well, wheel / tire size and tire pressure can still vary even measuring from wheel center. Most accurate would technically be from a consistent spot on the chassis, but for these purposes, any measurement point will do. Just trying to get reference points to share with the dealer if I need...
Quick update - Had a very irritating call with the service advisor who essentially just talked in circles trying to placate me, and then I called the actual lead technician who opened my ticket. He confirmed it was not normal, and wants me to bring the truck in for measurements. I'll probably...
I think I know the answer, but has anyone discovered a way to retain ALL driver aid settings each time the car is turned off and back on ? Very annoying to have to disable everything on each startup in my case . . . Thanks!
Thanks ! The Cayman plate is actually a holdover from my RS America. It was funnier on that. Still waiting on the DMV to get their sh*t together on my new plate.
Night and day. 470 struggled with gearing and braking, and was never quite comfortable with the track car back there. 550 is a beast by comparison. Honestly can't even tell there's a substantial load back there while towing. I did get some pretty intense vibrations at some specific speeds...
Another thought - I saw a new LC on the road today, and it has a very different design on the roof rack.
Looks like it's got some decent aero built in.
Anyone ridden in one ?
Yes, it is that bad. 70+ mph and it’s significant. Loud enough to interfere with conversation / music. It’s worse than my outgoing 470 was with various big ass cargo boxes on top. Maybe experience it before getting all righteous . . .
Hm. I do see a little lean there ? Have you measured fender height from ground? I’m working on driving down this tank of gas, and am definitely noticing it leveling out.
Hoping Lexus calls next week with a proposed solution.
So, my one substantive complaint on new-to-me 550 is this . . .
That happened after my first fill up last week. It's a good 1.5" lower on that side in the rear. I didn't notice any adverse handling or anything, but it's definitely leaning.
I opened a ticket with the dealer. They said...
