I dropped by my Land Rover dealer today and they had some serious Overlanding Defenders on display.

From the table above, it looks like the Premium and Luxury trims can be optioned with or without the second-row captain's chairs. The Overtrail is the only trim where the captain's chairs and third row is not an option.

If you get the Overtrail trim it comes with a rear bench seat and no third row. I'm not sure if you can spec any of the other trims without the third row or not.

Worst case, you could always use a hitch cargo carrier in a pitch to give yourself some extra room if you find ourself overloading the interior.

The new Land Cruiser is a little bit larger than the current 4Runner. You can see that comparison here: 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser vs 2023 Toyota 4Runner Specs

That would be my guess at this point.
