    Acceleration / throttle delay

And there’s the turbo lag thing. Lexus has put smaller turbos in the GX to (reduce) the turbo lag but never the less there is still some. Turbos Do not just turn on like a light switch, they need to wind up to obtain full power. The one issue with an underpowered engine being boosted to...

    Hood Flutter Investigated and Corrected

Guys this just has me baffled that Lexus puts out a beautiful designed SUV for $80,000 ish and you all got to come up with Jimmy Riged fixes. My 2015 F-150 is all aluminum and the only flexing I get is on the hood going through the car wash, and I can handle that. Oh once in a while meeting a...

Cracked Windshield (non impact) < 500 mi

Same thing happened to me but on my Ford F150, 6000 miles and it just appeared in the upper right corner one morning. Dealer said it looked like a stress crack and replaced it promptly. You would think Lexus would be better than a Ford dealer and take care of it. BUT with all the surprising crap...

What I can’t stand about my GX

LOL were all getting lazy and being taking over by tech, if we lose the tech someday we won't know how to get to the bathroom. Actually kinda scary.

    MPG

great idea, you should look into purchasing one of those old military aircraft fuel tanks like the ones mounted under the aircraft wing. It's areo dynamic and would look cool as hell.. My brotherinlaw had an old Chevy Blazer diesel that sucked fuel like crazy. He picked up a 60 gallon fuel tank...

    MPG

Well better MPG equals more miles to the gallon which in turn uses less fuel which equals better or (smaller) carbon footprint.. Actually I read that most manufactures are dropping V8's because of government regulations and government credits. They don't care what the customer wants as the auto...

    MPG

No kidding, and they dumped the V8 because of MPG? And the one guy getting 11 mpg on a 20 gallon tank gives you just under a 200 mile range. And I thought EV vehicles had a range issue, but at least you can stop every 2 1/2 hours and fuel up. Hopefully this is just break in mileage.

    GX550 purchase cancelled

Thanks, I'll do my research, but any info from a car salesperson I would take with a grain of salt unless he was selling Nissan's or Infiniti's. I have my homework to complete, there are sites out there that have a lot of (NON) byis info.. But thanks for the warning for which I will pay extra...

    GX550 purchase cancelled

Probably a good sound choice, I too removed my name from a waiting list a couple of months ago mainly because of the big engine recall but there are many other little things that add up. example, small fuel tank, hood wobble at highway speeds, non lexus like materials in the interior, lack of...

    Acceleration / throttle delay

You are experiencing Turbo lag, Lexus has smaller turbos which is suppose to reduce the lag but you still have turbos. Try sport mode, and I don't believe the gx offers a launch mode, its not a dragster.

3 days old- *no longer* dead in my garage

NOOO we need any info as I was looking to purchase. Don't let the lexus fan boy club deter you from sharing any issues as well as any likes and surprises you may find.

    Considering canceling my reservation(s)

Hope your rright on that, but it seems Toyota is cutting corrners to better their bottom line which of course big companies do all the time, but sometimes it catches up with them.. For example the Tacoma made in Mexico is losing sales to the Nissan Frontier made in the US, quality issues and...

    Considering canceling my reservation(s)

Sorry, I can't change your mind. I too took my name off of a waiting list. And there has been at least one 2024 Tundra with 7000 miles that has a blown engine, I expect we'll hear more. I'm 70 years old and plan on some traveling, I wanted to probably purchase my last new vehicle, wanted...

New Toyota Recalled Announced: 2023 Tundra & Lexus LX vehicles

Not totally buying the debris theory, I heard that it has happened in engines built in Alabama and Japan. What are the chances that debris was left behind in two seperate assembly plants? I don't know but the jury is out yet on this issue as far as I'm concerned. Until it's resolved my name is...

    Blurry HUD

Just wondering if you were wearing (polarized) sun glasses.. HUD's are somewhat blocked by polarized glasses and I noticed in my Palisade that if I lean my head to the right it brightens right up.. Otherwise it's great with no sunglasses or (NON) polerized ones...

    GX550 engine, specifically the V35A-FTS

Still concerned, the 2018 engines are now racking up some mileage so the issues are now popping up, also there have been incidents involving 2023 and 2024 vehicles with as little as 5000 miles. The videos of the internals of the engine I’ve seen are anything bit minor, major rebuild replacing...

    GX550 engine, specifically the V35A-FTS

So, have any of you Lexus lovers (including me) been following the issues Toyota is having with their 3.4 twin turbo engine throwing front main bearings in the Tundra? Same engine (V35A-FTS) Lexus is using in the LX600 and unfortunately in the GX550. Makes me somewhat concerned, concerned enough...

Interesting YouTube video on the V35A-FTS Engine

I too have been following this issue and somewhat dissappointed. Recently retired and planned on doing a little over the road traveling and was planning on purchasing a reliable vehicle which I decided would be a Lexus. A Lexus GX550 to be specific, did not want any issues a 1000 miles or more...

    Bought mine today!!

+15K=ouch. I’m very fortunate to have a dealer 15 miles from me that does not sell any vehicle over MSRP. But of course this does make it harder to get one, but that’s ok with me. The 80Kish GX I’m shopping for is a stretch for me so I’m on the waiting list, #106 on the list. Maybe by mid summer..

    GX550 Premium Plus

Most dealers will have a GX on the lot for test driving. They will all drive somewhat similar, enough to get a good idea on the drive aspect. Check out some local dealers near you. I would also make a small road trip to test drive one. Best be sure the wife is happy before you plop down 70...

    Hitch receiver on the GX550

thanks for the picture, it does look a little more defined that what I saw earlier. But sliding that lock pin in is still in question, don’t want to have to remove all that plastic just to put the pin in.

    Hitch receiver on the GX550

Hopefully what TFL showed on the hitch and cover was pre-production, as the GX they tested was pre-production. We can only hope they revised that cover which is kind of ugly not to mention sliding that pin in looks to really suck.

    Hitch receiver on the GX550

Hitch receiver on the GX550 looks to be pretty much in a hole, to the point where it’s questionable whether you will be able to fit a locking hitch pin in much less a standard one. Can anyone out there on the west coast (where I hear they are appearing on dealer lots) verify this? Thanks.

Mine is coming to Minnesota May of 2024

So it sounds like we could start to get the GX550’s in the Midwest sometime in April then. In Wisconsin and waiting.
