I checked again today. After disabling in options, I still get a rear seat icon on the lower left of display. No more text messages though.

If it is an annoyance, you can disable it in you options. See page 573 of manual.

Just did some basic test and front and rear seats registered at 65F/18.3C without sitting in the seat. This was measured 10 minutes after setting seat temp to max. It may be slightly warmer with you sitting in seat. Also the steering wheel topped out at 85F/29.4C and the side mirrors...
