I don't think vehicles are being held at the Port. I passed on the first option my dealer had in favor of waiting for a later allocation with Black Onyx roof. It landed in Long Beach Port yesterday and is sitting on my dealers lot as of an hour ago. Back surgery scheduled for Tues. so won't...
30 minutes per wheel with proper lift, air tools and pressure bleeder. I’ve done several complete rotor rebuilds which are far more involved. I have no idea what the work bay setup looks like at the average “port” facility though.
Congrats! We share a lot in common. I’m keeping my Macan however and looking forward to my first Lexus. Glad to hear your GX doesn’t suffer any of the early issues some are reporting.
Considering there is a chance the calipers are defective from the factory I wouldn’t modify them in any way.

If I were Lexus/Toyota I wouldn’t be mucking around and slow playing anything to do with faulty brakes. This could get outta hand real quick considering the safety implications.
Couple more things to look out for. Visual check your rotors by jacking up each wheel independently. Not sure if the gx can be turned off in neutral but if yes do so and spin each wheel to check for caliper piston drag against the rotor. This will be very audible. Sticking caliper will take out...
Vib. In the rear vs front falls inline with one or both rear caliper pistons not retracting but fronts working normal. Intermittent vib. falls inline with pistons occasionally sticking but sometimes getting out of the way just enough to have no contact. Liking this the more I think about it...
Excellent info here! This is sounding more like sticking caliper pistons. If either the bore or piston are faulty and not retracting could cause chatter which could easily be felt in the cabin as vibration. This makes more sense and falls inline with what we already know fixed “sroberts”...
You mention in your test drive of the premium it was noticeably smoother. The premium is a non KDSS/AVS setup vs yours which is a standard shock. This is sounding like it could simply be the difference in how these two suspensions ride. Luxury+ also has AVS but no sway disconnect.
Good plan. Did you happen to print out and show your service person the "work order" sheet "sroberts" posted earlier in the thread? This shows updated part #'s she had replaced which was basically the entire brake caliper & rotor assy. Not sure yours can be attributed to the brakes but might...
Mind blowing at this day and age with a company as capable as Toyota. Hang in there and keep in mind you’re helping other GX owners who are possibly dealing with the same issue by going through the BS. It will be resolved at some point.
Frustrating... Been said before but this will surely be looked at down the raod as "first model yr." type issue. Would be very "untoyota like" not to fix. We may never completely understand the root cause if it doesn't reveal itself out in the real world. Should be picking mine up within the...
Follow this link.
They’re working on a plugnplay version for the GX. Should be out soon. These new systems have so much built in integration and dsp programming, unless your will to totally gut the system this setup is the way to go. You’ll be amazed at the difference a slight boost in clean...
Print out the work order “sroberts” posted here and politely introduce it to the service Mgr. at your dealer. There’s enough info there for them to see this could be the issue.
I think the engine issue has been resolved and anything coming off the line since the recall is as safe as the 3.5tt is going to be. As for other changes It doesn’t seem likely much will change for 25. You might even be glad you have a 24 if the price increase is significant.
It will be interesting to know if anyone else can resolve the vibration with the same brake parts ”sroberts” received. More interesting yet would be anyone who can retain the old parts so we can see what the malfunction is.
Yes I do. Shudder feeling is even more akin to a rotor issue than this vibration thing. Hopefully you can show your dealer the work order with part #s and get yours dealt with.
Wow, Way to pull through! That would make more sense if the caliper itself was the issue and more specifically the piston not retracting. It’s a great bit of info for the rest of us to benefit from. Appreciate your efforts…
Still struggling with the idea a brake pad shim would be the cause of this vibration. Shims are not in contact with a rotating assy. until the brakes are applied. Under normal non braking conditions they would NOT seemingly be imparting any vibrations assuming the caliper pistons are...
