    GX550 Real World MPG

I've seen a few posts where people have reported terrible mileage like you are experiencing when using Eco drive mode. I just use normal 99% of the time and Sport or Sport+ when I'm feeling like getting spicy, but I'm getting 16-18mpg calculated with miles driven and gallons at the pump...

    Roof Rack Removal

Removing the rubber strip on the bottom of the leading edge also helps reduce the noise significantly.

    Mud Guard

I almost ordered those, but there was no photo so I wanted to be sure they were actually the mud flaps and not something else.

    Verbal Commands

"Hey Lexus, tell me a joke" is one that I discovered is mildly entertaining.

    Few questions?

Ha, I JUST did the same thing right before I read your comment. I am trying to think of how to use that space on the passenger side because it's very big in there. If I don't figure out how to use it effectively, I may at least put some sort of insulation in the there to help reduce road noise...

Check out this build, great front bumper coming

I heard back from the company making the bumper and rock rails. Here was the response: Good afternoon Seth We appreciate your interest in our parts. We are getting the 550 back in the shop next week to finalize a couple more parts and get the bumper and rock sliders gigged up to start...

Check out this build, great front bumper coming

Great points, I don't think the benefits outweigh the costs you mentioned. I would consider a rear bumper just to make the trailer hitch access look better and add tow points, but no swing outs.

https://www.jwoffroad.com/ But they don't show this on their site yet. I sent them an email to ask about availability.

    Brake Controller Question

That makes sense, the adaptive cruise has to manage a lot to keep the GX distanced from other vehicles and lane tracing to keep it in the lane, both of which would be sketchy with a trailer attached. But regular cruise is just speed based so that's on the driver to manage. Thanks for sharing...

Check out this build, great front bumper coming

This is a video of a fantastic GX build, but the front bumper is what caught my attention. It's not available on their site yet but hopefully coming soon.

    GX550 Overtrail Vibration

Yeah, I wasn't suggesting a failed or worn out u joint, but just that it might be an out of balance drive shaft or an improperly installed u joint or CV joint. This seems to be an inherent issue from the start only on some vehicles.

    GX550 Overtrail Vibration

If you can upload a video of that it would help others to have a comparison to use. Since it's not wheels and tires out of balance, it seems like it could be a bad CV joint or something with the driveshaft. Growing up a bit of a redneck, I have had a few experiences with drive shaft u joints...

    GX550 Overtrail Vibration

We should derive a reasonably easy vibration test that any of us could use to compare our vehicles. My brainstorm idea for others to improve on would be, take a 16 Oz water bottle half full of water with the cap on it, tie a string around the top under the cap and hang it from the passenger...

    Skid Plate

NYTOP has a skid plate option that covers the cats: 2024-Current Lexus GX550 Skid Plate Assembly — NYTOP | Not Your Typical Original Parts Victory has something similar: GX Transmission & Catalytic Converter Skid Plate - Victory 4x4 I don't have either, I'm trying to figure out how they work...

    No split screen on GX550

I agree, there should be a way to split nav and radio, but it's not too bad just switching back and forth. Android auto does a nav music split, just not radio.

    GX550 Overtrail Vibration

You can remove the roof rack to get a much quieter ride, or you can remove the rubber strip on the front of the roof rack for a somewhat quieter ride.

Rear seat lever modification for strength

I posted some info about this in another thread focused on warranty issues, but I wanted to share here to hopefully help some of you avoid the issue altogether. It has been reported here and in some other videos, that the rear seat flip levers in the GX and LC break easily. Since mine have not...

    seat lever break easily!

Hey guys, I have goodish news and badish news. I'll start with the bad. I took my rear seat levers off today, which was pretty easy. I have rarely used the levers, only flipping the seats a few times in total. But both seat levers showed small cracks just above where the bolt goes through. I was...

    Buying Local(ish)

They won't do the "free" maintenance for the 5k and 10k services that are included, but I had our toyota dealer do my 1,500 mile break in oil change and not only did they do it, but they were excited to check out the GX, and they had a recently transferred Lexus tech do the work.

    Digital Key

Yeah, same here. I've had my GX since mid May, so I've just had a little more time to figure a few things out through trial and error or web searches. I really appreciate this forum though, it has been very helpful to me and I just want to share what I have learned so we can all make the most of...
