We compare the 2025 Land Rover Defender 110 to the Lexus GX550 on and off-road to determine which truck handles real-world use and extreme situations better. There is no way any sane person would choose the Defender over the Overtrail.

The air suspension is cool and very comfortable, but it's also thousands of dollars when (not if, but when) its various fragile components fail.

I put about 350,000 miles on Land Rovers between 1999 and 2024 and I loved every minute of it, except for the dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of times when I was standing at the independent Land Rover mechanics' counter handing over my credit card to pay for another repair. That's Land Rover life. I feel like a great weight has been lifted off my shoulders every time I see that GX550 in my garage instead of a Land Rover.

It’s also engineered to last decades.
It is a superior machine built to a much higher standards.
