I agree with the guy in this video, it should have just worked, esp the first test but it failed.
Can anyone say why? Of course if you start locking lockers, put it in MTS mode, etc. it will do better but even then it wasn't behaving as I'd expect.

Read the comments on his video.. he is wrong with how the LSD works on the GX. If you want a fully automated system, get a LR Defender? What wasn’t behaving on the GX as you expected? The advantage of the GX over a regular 4Runner is the AWD with lsd. Unless you get a 4R in limited trim, you either have 2WD or locked 4WD. When it snows or rains on paved roads, which you rather have? 2WD, locked 4WD or AWD? I’ll pick AWD 100% unless I’m on a race track or off road.

Torsen systems have always needed SOME grip to distribute torque between wheels.

It’s Torque SENSING, there need to be torque to sense to do its job. Roller tests will never go well for this reason.

This has been a thing since the OG Audi Quattro torsen systems.

There is a reason why lockers exist

He did not test the GX with the center differential locked. It would have behaved the same as the 4 runner. This was noted in one of the comments. I had the same question after watching the video until I read the comment describing the diff in an all wheel drive of the Gx vs the 4 runner that is not.
