This is my Meter Display Customization setup 1, which I use for everyday driving around. It starts with Meter Type 2 (set with Settings/Vehicle Customization/Meter on the main display). Then on the steering wheel, you press/hold the ok button down for Meter Customization. I have the left panel set with Turbo Gauge, center panel with Map 1 and right panel with Navigation.

I really LIKE this look for my everyday driving around (first picture).

What I DISLIKE - Part 1 - Meter content is changed by engaging the Dynamic Cruise Control

The second picture was taken after I engage the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. You can see that it's engaged with what appears right of the 37 mph. Notice that with engaging the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, the Meter drops the left side tachometer and the right side speedometer. There is no reason to drop these just because the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is engaged and it makes the display look silly and incomplete. Anyone else think that the tach and speedo gauges should be left up with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control engaged?

What I DISLIKE - Part 2 - Speed "settles" in at 1 mph lower than the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control speed setting

In the second picture you can see the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is set at 38 mph and the radar sees no car in front of me restraining the car from reaching the set speed. The car is going 37 mph. Whenever the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is on the car and there is open road in front of the car, the car always settles in at a speed that is 1 mph lower than I set. It's not a big deal but it is annoying. I find myself setting the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control at 1 mph faster than I want to cruise so that it settles in at the speed I really want to go. Has anyone else experienced this?

What I DISLIKE - Part 3 - The Compass and Map 1 are BOTH replaced with arrow instructions when Navigation is engaged

When you engage navigation (through CarPlay in this case), the right panel with the Compass changes to Navigation arrow instructions, and the center panel Map 1 changes to a smaller redundant version of Navigation arrow instructions. See the 3rd picture. The Compass is a great option that I think should be made available without alteration when Navigation is engaged. I want that up always when I am driving regardless of what other features are engaged. Anyone else agree with this? I'm okay with the center panel Map 1 changing to arrow instructions when Navigation is engaged, but a good size map replaced with a tiny arrow instruction leaves a lot of unused space that could be better arrow instruction. If the arrow instructions in the center panel is going to be that small, why not leave the map too. Am I wrong?

In the last picture below, I have both Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Navigation (through CarPlay) engaged. The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control kills the left side tach and right side speedo. The Navigation kills the center map and kills the right side compass. It looks awful.

All 4 of these pictures are taken with a single Meter Display set up and are only altered by the engagement of the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and/or Navigation (through CarPlay). I start out with a set up that I like (photo 1) but it changes to something that I don't care for, and I feel is not very well thought out.

There are things that could easily be better, but I still love this truck.

Ty for the info very informative

My tach and speedo don't drop off when I engage dynamic cruise control.

I have the two meters displayed (separate tach and speedo) and I have the compass on the left and the fuel indicator on the right.

I do notice that my compass becomes the arrow showing directions when I have the maps engaged to take me to a destination. That is redundant and annoying. The compass is third in importance to speedo and tach.

There's got to be some setting for this because my tach and speedo remain when I engage adaptive cruise control and lane centering. I use it every day. I'll snap a pic when I go pick my son up from his Saturday-night-out at the karate dojo in a bit.

What year is your model cuz I tried to customize my 2024 Dashboard and it looks nothing like this. I love these options!

Completely agree with this point. It makes me feel like it got stuck before it finished loading.

My meters drop off when I use the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering. Annoy

That's what I think, but I can't figure it out.

Yea, it's not right the way it works. There is no way someone thought the display was better looking, or more importantly, better functioning, by making these changes to it because the functions were engaged.

That's what it's supposed to look like with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control engaged. I don't understand what the heck I've got going on. There was at least one other that said they had the same issue that I'm having.
I went out and tried again. I attempted to mimic your set up (meter items and driver support systems enabled) based on what I see from your pic.

Tach and speedo still disappear when Dynamic Radar
Cruise Control is engaged.

Mine GX is 2024 OT+ with all of the software updated. While there may be a setting difference, I can't imagine what it may be. I played with everyone that I thought it even remotely might be. The software list is long (HU SW, CA SW, VP SW, GD SW, VD SW, OD SW, SM SW, AP SW & MT SW) and who knows which handles the Meter and Meter Display Customization, but maybe there is a different version between you and I in there.

Yours works as it should (logically), so clearly I have an issue with an elusive source.

Let me know if you have any thoughts on what I ought to try next.

I'll get a clearer pic of my full dash display while running with cruise on.

I see you have speed limit sign still enabled while I don't. That shouldn't make a difference but who knows.

Off the top of my head, I have also turned off things like automatic-braking, lane change assist, lane keeping assist (expect when adaptive cruise is on), and I quieted the chime associated with the driver eyeball tracking (sorry but I don't know all the official names of these settings.). I'll review my settings and see if anything stands out.

GX550 Poll

  • Sit up

  • Pay more attention (driver inattention detected)

  • I heeded the warning and corrected my seating position

  • I disabled the driver warning alerts

  • Look forward
