I need new tires and soon. The factory ones have been pretty good overall but are wearing out quickly (at 25k miles) and already have some cupping in places.

Do people think Tirerack.com does a good job evaluating tires? Summary at top makes some tires seem ok but the full review below that doesn't.

The Nitto Terra Grappler G3 (my original choice) and BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 did pretty poorly in wet. I am concerned as it will be daily driver over Hwy 17 all year round.Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT actually performed about the best (plus some VREDESTEIN PINZA AT that I've never heard of)

Also seems like I should go (stay?) with an LT tire on 6,500 lbs of SUV - isn't that correct? That eliminates the Nitto G3 but not the K03.

Nitto Recon grapplers.. huge following and even better road noise than my older Nitto Ridge Grappler... I will say though, that the Ridge Grapplers were horrible in water here in Texas.. Huge deep tread and i still hydoplaned all over the place even on a 8" lifted 2500HD GMC Denali... Ridiculous.. hoping for better result LOL

The Nitto Terra Grappler G3 (SL version) actually was one of the top performers on the Wet Track testing, per the link/test posted, I think…
Were you maybe referring to the Recon Grappler instead? That tire seems more off-road oriented than the Terra Grappler G3.

As far as the Pinza AT, I used an 18” SL version on my 2022 V-8 Sequoia for mostly summer use for 3 years. It’s very quiet and handled my summer towing duties well. It was also excellent on county, gravel and easier forest trail roads. The Sequoia weighs more than the GX.

I would have bought another set of Pinza AT as my interim tire, except the size I wanted (275/70R18) is still only available as a heavier E rated tire. So I went with the Nitto Terra Grappler G3 instead.

The nice thing is, these days there are some very good choices available within the entire AT arena. I hope this was helpful. 👍

I went with the Falken Wildpeak AT 4W and I like them. They ride great and look great. I put the OEM OT wheels on my Premium+ and I’m using the stock OT size tire. They are a little heavier than ideal, but the 265/79r18 size did come in an SL version.
