New member and a proud new owner of a GX550 !
Just took ownership of my GX 550 Overtrail+ Earth last weekend. I've been a loyal Toyota owner for majority of my driving years. I wanted an upgrade from my stable of Toyota SUVs, and had every intention of buying the new generation 4runner ( TRD Pro or Trailhunter). Due to the intolerable wait, and my local Toyota dealer seducing me with calls every time they had an unsold Land Cruiser, I decided to do a little bit more research and stumbled upon GX550 first look videos and reviews. A couple of my buddies have GX460s fully accessorized for off-roading, but the 460 styling never excited me. The GX550, however, had everything I wanted.
I did my research ( lurking on this specific forum!) and decided that I would want the Overtrail trim in either the Incognito or Nori. A few of the dealers did have some on the lot that they just received awaiting pick up so I was fortunate to see them in person. I immediately fell in love with the Earth color and put my deposit down and played the waiting game. I waited about 6 months until I got a call that the dealer will be getting a Earth in, but in the overtrail + model. It was going to be about 10K more than I had budgeted for, ( due to the price difference in trim & about 6K in factory/port installed accessories) I thought about it for a few days, but my excitement and impatience won, and I went for the OT+. After another 2 months for the car to shipped, and finally my wait was over.
Thinking back on it now, when i began my GX550 buying process, my wife and I were not expecting a baby as well. My first baby girl and my new GX both arrived within weeks of each other. I'm excited to be a an owner of this vehicle, and I am happy to be a member of this forum to engage in many discussions!
