Hey all,
I’m curious if anyone else has noticed excessive movement or rattling from the rear seat assembly when driving with no one seated back there? I’ve been hearing a lot of rattling over small bumps and during normal in-town driving. When I stow the rear seats, the noise disappears completely—so I’m wondering if this is a known issue in the community?

For context, I’m running the Westcott lift with 35s, which probably amplifies things a bit, but I’ve actually noticed this since I first bought the GX last summer.

Appreciate any insight!

I’ve noticed this since purchasing mine in January. I’ve got the Westcott lift and tires just like you, but it was doing it well before I installed everything. I had my wheels/tires road forced balance and it helped a bit, but it’s still doing it. Part of me feels like it is because they fold up when getting into the 3rd row area and aren’t fixed and bolted down, but I’m not sure. I try not to focus on it while looking into the rear view mirror.

I have this issue as well on my Luxury model. Second row visibly shakes and rattles over rough roads. I mostly drive with no one in the back seat. I’ve had it to the dealer twice for this issue and the second time they said it’s a known issue with the 60/40 split design but there isn’t a fix.

I've found a number of sources of rattling on my GX Lux:

  • The rear spoiler is not securely mounted as designed and can definitely get a rattle going
  • The covers on the rear glass latch rattle slightly
  • The third seat belts, even when docked into the seatbelt holders, still rattle a bit
  • The spare tire has about 8" of chain hanging down (WTF is that for?)

The chain is what lowers the spare to the ground. It might have come down through the wheel instead of spooling inside the middle.
