I don't want to tag onto the ML21 thread and I can't find an answer in the manuals I've downloaded so I'll ask here. Does the stock sound system come with the the active noise cancellation and piped in engine sounds?. Have that on my current X3 and had them coded off and will look to do the same if they are part of the stock system.

I might be in the minority, but I don't mind the piped in engine sound at all. Glad it's just sport s+ mode and not all the time like the Tundra

So we don't have our GX yet, and are still some months away, I've seen in mentioned a few times here, what is this 'piped in engine' sound, or fake engine sound, surely we're not in an age where we have a fake sounding engine coming through the speakers.

Oh yes we are. I have it in my '21 BMW X3 and yes it is ridiculous. I coded it out on the X3 and i have the Carista to do the same when my GX arrives. As pointed out above, apparently it is only active in Sport+ mode but I'll still code it out along with Active Noise Cancellation.

I actually like it. If I’m in Sport mode, I don’t mind hearing the engine/exhaust noise. Is it fake, yes, but it’s done well and adds to the “sport” driving experience. I suppose I’m in the minority.. I also think the ML system sounds great :)

So something was posted earler from Lexus saying that the truck's exhaust is amplified over the audio system. Can anyone confirm that the canned sound is actually coming from the the vehicle's real exhaust sound? So if you were to swap the exhaust system the sound being piped in would change along with it?

I don't mind it and they've been doing it for years. My wife had an NX before we bought the '22 GX460 and it had the fake engine noise as well.

out of curiosity, why are some of you coding out active noise cancellation? You want the cabin louder, but not with exhaust noise? Are you looking to boost wind noise?

Haven't got the vehicle yet but the ANC is done through the sound system and some have found the stereo sounds better with it off. I'll experiment and decide...

Can you only turn off Active Noise Cancelling with Carista (or request that the dealer do it)? I can't find anything in the various touchscreen menu settings.

Well I don't have my GX yet, just the Carista stuff. Online, it shows disabling ANC as an option but I can't say that for sure. I'm hoping so.
