I know this is a long way off, but I'm just curious as to what happens when the cloud navigation trial ends in 3 years. Under connected technologies, the Drive Connect trial includes cloud-based navigation, intelligence /destination assist over the built in 4G network. As of now I'm under the belief that if you don't renew Drive Connect, the nav system will no longer work since it's not an embedded system. In all my other vehicles, the navigation system is embedded (not cloud based), so it continues to work using GPS coordinates. Apparently, not so for Lexus, although Apple Car Play and Waze will continue to work under this scenario.

Based on current pricing, I think we should expect to pay around $200 per year to continue to use the cloud-based navigation. Add in another $80+ for the Lexus app / remote connect, which equates to ~$280 per year of yet more subscription fees. I predict most people will not renew the Drive Connect, but perhaps only the Remote Connect. The good news I believe is that the Safety / Service Connect (e.g. SOS button, stolen vehicle recovery, automatic collision notification, vehicle health reports) remains in effect for 10 years. Thank you, Lexus. :)

If you look in the app, it gives you the available options and pricing. Right now drive connect plus remote connect is $15/mo ($180/yr).

If you open your Lexus App, go to Shop at the bottom, click on Manage Subscriptions, then click on Add Service, you'll see that "Go Anywhere" which includes "Drive Connect" and "Remote Connect" costs $15 per month. So that's $160 per year for both of those. It doesn't look like you can get "Remove Connect" by itself right now although certainly things can change.

Edit - @bruesjoh04 beat me to it! :D

IMO how much is you and your family’s life worth no matter how you found a way to purchase a Lexus imo the price is minimal safe driving and a happy new year

When your Lexus 3-year Drive Connect trial ends, you will no longer be able to access the Drive Connect features unless you purchase a paid subscription plan like "Go Anywhere" or "Premium" through the Lexus app to continue using the service; if you do not subscribe, the connected services will simply stop working.

Key points to remember:
  • No automatic renewal:
Your Drive Connect service will not automatically renew after the trial period ends.

  • Subscription options:
To continue using the features, you need to choose a paid subscription plan through the Lexus app.

  • Limited functionality without subscription:
Once the trial ends, you will lose access to features like live traffic updates, navigation with real-time information, and other connected services.

How does it improve safety?

I find most integrated navs to feel years behind anything we have on our phones. TBH I haven’t tried the Lexus nav yet because just based on looks it seems antiquated. Does annyone else feel differently?

@JustinB - I feel the same way about integrated navigation, my phone works just fine for me and I don't use the Lexus navigation either. In fact, I'm not a fan of almost all the paid Lexus services except for the remote start. And as long as I can start the GX with the 3 push remote, I don't think I'll even renew the remote connect service. It's nice to have the app, and know where your truck is, but how much is that really worth I haven't decided

Using different points to triangulate a please to start the search if you have an accent or medical emergency hopefully they get to quickly

The longer I own this Lexus (my first) the less likely I'll buy another. All the hype of the brand does not seem to equal what I have experienced so far.

I use the Lexus navigation as well as the iphone's navigation. It's as simple as just saying, "Hey Lexus, take me to 123 Anywhere Street, Scottsdale, Arizona." The truck will respond with, "I found 123 Anywhere Street, would you like to go now?" I've found the Lexus navigation to be nearly exactly the same as the iphone's. Routing has been identical each time I've cross-checked it.

All that being said, I see no need to pay for continued Lexus navigation when the subscription runs out when I am already paying for the iphone service. I'll have to really check into what is included with this "Drive Connect" service when the time comes.
