GXOT PPF'ed and Tinted.

I picked up my GX from the tint shop yesterday. This guy has been around 25 years and has tinted my 3 prior Toyotas and a couple of F150's. The Lexus took a 3rd day to complete. The hood film did not adhere properly due to recent rain and high humidity and Dustin redid it.

All film, tint and PPF, was Xpel. Inside glass is ceramic. 35% front including windshield and 15% rear and back glass. As dark as legal in Georgia. First impression I noticed was the back glass which is already pretty dark to begin with and applying 15% makes it really, really dark , so I'm thinking about lightening it up. Dark glasses make it seem like the dead of night. Filming inside the windshield knocks out a lot of glare. This is the first vehicle I've ever put film on the windshield. Inside job: $775.

The PPF covers the front, all light lens, hood, fenders, mirrors, A-pillar and a forward section of roof rear to the moonroof. Dustin tossed in the behind the door handles and the front door scuff plates just because he's a nice guy. $2,573.

So y'all can compare, ... all total with tax: $3,615.

Looks incredible! I am taking mine in on Monday to get a complete color change via PPF. I couldn't get the exterior color I wanted with my allocation, so I am making it happen using PPF. Your color combo was my #1 choice....great looking truck!

Nice, I dropped my just delivered OT off at the detail shop yesterday to get PPF, Ceramic and window tint done. I hope to have it back early next week and will post pics.

I am quoted 3000 for PPF and window tint all windows and the front window. I think it’s a good price. It only PPF on the front clip and mirrors

That sounds about right, full front PPF and the window tint all windows for mine was $2920 for Xpel.

Any issues with the XPel PPF? My detailing buddy said they have QC issues & XPel is shit for customer service. Their tint is good

I used Ultrafit XP wrap and really love it. DFW Clear Bra in the Dallas area is a fantastic shop and did bumper to bumper coverage of all panels and trim.

Anyone know or have experience about any effect inside windshield ceramic window tint has on the heads up display? I'm all set to have the tinting done on Tuesday and got to wondering about this. Tks!

I did the UV tint on the front inside of my OT and no issues with seeing the HUD so far.

I just did my OT in Xpel Ceramic. The back glass is already 22% so I did 70%. 20% on the fronts & 45% on the windshield. Came out pretty even

Question for owners who paid for the dealer PPF for $450. Description for accessory says it covers hood, front fenders and front bumper. Lexus’ website also has an image with red dotted line highlighting the areas to be covered with the PPF. The hood oddly enough isn’t highlighted but the side view mirrors and the area behind the door handles are. I’m confused. What does the $450 actually include?

I'm looking to do full PPF on GX. However I am open to opinions as this would be the first vehicle I have considered this option. I intend to do light offroad activities that may pose a hazard from tree/bush branch scrapes. I generally fish and would like to start driving some of the easier trails out there. I was quoted $10K for XPEL.

So here are my questions:
Am I overreacting on the full option and is it more realistic to go with targeted coverage (front and sides)?

Is there another option that may be viable on the market?

$10k USD seems like alot, I feel like you should be able to have a car wrapped for half that or less.

For context my GX cost me $1400 CAD to have full front and partial sides ( flung rock protection ).

I feel like 10x the cost to do the other 66% of the vehicle is a bit out of hand.

I will note though that it's important to do this as soon as possible, as paint prep is the most time consuming and expensive step. If your paint needs alot of work ( clay, decontamination, polishing ) then that drives the cost way up. Best time to do it is right after delivery.

For perspective, I did a complete color change using UltraFit and it was $8800, including further tinting the sunroof. All surfaces are covered, except the rough black plastic wheel well covers, etc.
