The issue with the tundra was the actuator that was failing. Nothing to do with the turbo or engine.

it’s an IHI turbo that’s also used in Ferraris. But yes it’s a reputable company that has provenance in the exotic. What you need to take away it’s that it’s a turbo made in Japan.

it’s more the American assembly that causes concerns. Toyota also revised the part that caused failures and moved to a new supplier. The GX is made in Japan so it will have better oversight on assembly.

He’s definitely going to lose some degree of articulation. There’s a prepro lift on that Gx though. Not sure if it’s blocks or new struts. There’s rubbing at full lock but according to the tech who installed it removing the plastics will solve that.

If you go the pre cut template route you will get dirt underneath the edges. But imo it’s better than having nothing at all. In my experience bug stains come out completely fine.

Paint isn’t designed to deflect rocks and debris. I get what you’re saying. You prefer the product as is and are spartan about it. I don’t want to throw any ego at you but from my experience PPF protects your investments.

The question is, would you want to spend over 4k on a forged wheel and save a little unsprung weight, then adding a true AT for just half an inch more tire, give up some nvh and ride quality, or just stick to the OEM? That’s the bigger question

They mocked it up with a +0 wheel. It’s going to be tight. Braid makes forged wheels with the option to spec your offset. If you got a 17x7.5 +50 and put a 285 tire on it you would have the same distance from oem and clearance.

GX still is the best value. The 4Runners are going to be the same or even more with dealer markups as a GX, and there’s going to be more people bidding for them than a GX. The 4Runner is the cash cow for Toyota with is aggressive styling for the NA market. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cool suv but...
