I’ve been seeing a lot of issues regarding the 2022-24 Toyota tundra engine. Isn’t it the GX 550 has the same engine as the tundra and sequoia? I also read that the non-hybrid tundra has the one that got the issues. The hybrid ones don’t Hence, I’m kind of worried about the GX because it’s not hybrid and Might be the same engine as the aforementioned

it’s more the American assembly that causes concerns. Toyota also revised the part that caused failures and moved to a new supplier. The GX is made in Japan so it will have better oversight on assembly.

What Critmonkey says is a valid point, as far as the engine goes, Yamaha makes Toyota engines and Ferrari makes the turbos

it’s an IHI turbo that’s also used in Ferraris. But yes it’s a reputable company that has provenance in the exotic. What you need to take away it’s that it’s a turbo made in Japan.

The issue with the tundra was the actuator that was failing. Nothing to do with the turbo or engine.

Specs is specs and the way Toyota/LEXUS are spec diligent
