I just installed the Peak Performance 1.25" top hat spacer to level my Overtrail. I think it turned out great and I am really happy with the results. I have leveled numerous trucks including my 4Runner, F250, F150 and Tacoma. I do not like the look, or performance, of raked truck - higher in the back then front. Vehicles come this way because manufacturers think they get better mileage. I have never seen an appreciable difference in mpg in any truck I have leveled, not lifted.

Any tips on removing the shocks to install the top spacers?

I had it done at a suspension shop. They charged me for two hours ($240) and did an alignment for free.
Took me 2 hours too, but was a little harder than I was expecting. With the OT, the sway bar and end links get it the way of the shock, so I couldn't easily remove the shock like I was planning.

Here is what I did to get my spacer in.

  • Remove 3 AVS shock connector bolts
  • Disconnect shock AVS connector (kinda difficult)
  • Remove 4 upper shock bolts
  • Remove the lower 2 knuckle bolts
  • Remove sway bar end link from LCA
  • Loosen LCA mounting bolts
  • Loosen lower shock bolt

This gave me enough room to get the spacer in.

Then put it back together and tighten the following at ride height:
  • LCA mounting bolts
  • Swaybar endlink
  • Lower shock mount
  • Upper arms mount should be loosened and tightened too.

My 8mm spacer gave me 5/8" of increased height. Pretty sure this won't allow the shock to bottom out before the lower arm bump fully engages.
