Sprayed the underside metal with RP-342 (note I used a Transparent color not the black can shown). This is a spray on wax that protects during the salty winter. Rear axle shown after spraying. It does run easily FYI. Note the larger than LC rear differential! Looks killer. Note, to lower...
Welcome to the 559 page. Glad you were more ok than not with that accident. The 4Runner looks well built. I have the original 85 and still love driving it. The new purchase will fill the void nicely.
The drive modes change many things, steering response, throttle engagement, shift points (sport+) holds you out of top gear) and adds sweet exhaust notes in the cabin (think muscle car fun), and finally changes the shock dampening. Lots going on in each mode.
Great picture walk through of the button presses. It has illudid me for a couple weeks as it was not straight forward in the user manual. Definitely nice to have if pushing it and manually shifting. After the HUD tack and driving info, the normal cluster doesn't get the attention I used to...
Yes you can toggle the assist off on the menu which is easy to do. It does stay off until toggled again even after on off. You may not be able to turn off the facial recognition monitor. This is the one that asks for keeping eyes forward. It is a bit more sensitive than I and others may...
The emergency braking has been a non issue for us. Only stopped the truck when reversing in a very tight space. It can be overridden with a button left of the steering wheel on the dash, but would need to be disabled each time in my experience.
As for the rest of the tech, I didn't want it...
I think the MT Baja Boss would be a good option for the trail built rig. Will be stiffer side wall and a bit more noise but a heck of a lot more tread depth 18/32" vs 13/32" with the factory Toyo's. I run Boss on our 80 and they just worked great on the technical class IV roads of Vermont a...
Would like to hear as well. Great question. When we bought our GX in July we asked and the dealer had not yet seen or heard of the option but they found it in the accessories guide. Think it was $1200 which is a bit of coin but a nice clean factory install location in the left rear factory...
The custom drive mode needs to be configured in the system display. Manual will get you there quick. Should be there under vehicle customization or custom settings.
Welcome. Looking forward to visiting VT this fall. We liked the atomic but my daughter noted the nori would be her pick. Sould blend right in with the green mountain state.
If you can find one without a markup you may be able to make something happen seeing the dealer would likely not have an issue selling it. I've been starting to hear about lower than expected milage from the LC turbo 4 hybrid setup. There are a few lower than planned mpg GX owners as well...
My nephew just had his 5th Gen 4Runner engine harness destroyed. I believe his insurance covered it, not the warranty as you noted. Glad you only had scare this time. I do sense a twitch in your note π.
The manual is not super helpful other than it notes you need to turn off driving assist features. I found I needed to use the steering wheel buttons. First turn off the lane assist by pressing the button directly to the right and center of the horn. Then, I press the cruise control button...
Overtrail has 33's stock. Are you running a premium with the 20" or 22" wheels? I think there is a 275 option getting to about 33.5" which should be safe. The 285's should also work but may need so research.
So what happens in the GX when the digital gauge gets to zero? I assume a red fuel light comes on, but does it do another range calculation and present it in red? I was going to try but that would have put tank on empty for my wife driving the next day.
Last fill I had 19 miles reading (1 gal). I filled 17 gallons. That would put reserve at 3 gallons (about 60 miles @ 19.6 mpg avg showing). I wonder if the software uses the 3 gallons or 60 miles range? I.e. if you are averaging 15mpg would it plan your empty light to come on with 4 gallons...
Welcome, we purchased this luxury overland rig as a nod to the Toyota/Lexus team putting a great platform for us to build on and use harder and harder as it ages.
OT+
Normal shift/power
Sport steering
Sport suspension
Nice when you want to have a bit more feedback from road and crisp steering but don't need to lock out the higher gears for some fuel economy.
Generally I like the sport+ as it does hold a lower gear which aids compression breaking on...
