Anyone aware of any drawer / floor systems in pre / production ?
I'm aware of the Air Down Gear Up drawer offering but I'm looking for something more modular. Ideally I'd want the Victory floor / slider / drawer system, but no indication that they have a floor forthcoming for mounting. I...
This is probably a good first-hand description of 3 trucks that are as intended from factory. The ride is bumpy. Noticeably more so than my prior 470, or older 4Runners, for example.
I think what we're hearing about the supposed brake-related vibrations is a recognized flaw (or at least...
We need to distinguish between vehicle characteristics and "issues."
The hood flutter is a legitimate thing, but it's common on a lot of new aluminum hood trucks and cars. It could have / should have been remedied during design and QC testing, but I'm not sure we can call it an "issue,"...
$2300 PPF full front, fenders, mirrors, pillars, roof leading edge. $800 ceramic full truck.
I winced at paying for the ceramic as I detail my own cars, and ceramic is actually dead simple, but I hate the acrobatics of getting around this big-ass truck, so bit the bullet and paid to have it...
I got tired of the swing out on my 470. Renders back up cams moot, and makes connecting a trailer + having access to rear compartment a nightmare. Won't be adding one to the 550.
I doubt we could get the info, but @sroberts could definitely call the service tech and ask for the detail of the additional 4 parts. Would just have to say you want that info for your records or something. I don't think they'd be keeping it a secret. My advisor said he has access to a...
Or how the hood flutter was addressed, since the work order specifically says they noticed it, but that there was no fix for it (which there's not). Not trying to pile on or anything; just genuinely curious what they did or didn't do.
Lol. I also won't accept anything other than OCD perfection on my cars, but wasn't concerned enough about this to force them to change out springs and struts. I probably would have pressed for that if I was convinced this was a "defect," rather than an outlier within the range of acceptable...
Gotcha. Those parts are just replacement discs, pads, and the retaining pins that hold the brake pads in. And a shim kit to eliminate the squeal you had. None of those things would cause or remedy vibration (again unless the discs had pad buildup; but you would only feel that while braking...
Final update on my case:
Picked up the truck with shims installed yesterday. Not ideal, but good enough. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.
Here's an interesting bit of data from the lead tech measuring every new OT that comes into the dealership. While none of them have had a visible...
Extensive thread based on my lean experience here: Dreaded "Toyota Lean?"
TLDR - some of these are exhibiting a lean. The official Toyota range of "within spec" side to side ride height difference is .591". So, if yours is within that range, the "official" Toyota response will be that it's...
Brakes wouldn't cause vibration consistently unless a piston was stuck. Also would only cause vibration under application if pad material had built up unevenly on the rotors, which you'd feel as a shimmy in the steering wheel under braking.
Would love to see what those other 4 parts were...
Further update - Just spoke with the tech. He bled the KDSS system and played with the pressures from low to high within Toyota's published specs. He said that made minor differences in ride height, but that the lean persists.
He said the options now are a small shim between body / frame to...
Out of curiosity for anyone with the vibration @TFlyfisher OR @Snooperstyle - Do you have video or anything demonstrating ?
My initial impressions of the ride did lean towards "this is bouncy," but again, had nothing to compare against besides my old 470 and several 4Runners. So, part of me...
I experienced a pretty aggressive vibration at around 75-85mph, but ONLY while towing recently. I initially freaked out about that, but am now convinced it's an issue with trailer wheel balance, rather than one with the truck. I don't notice any consistent vibration otherwise, but have not...
Just dropped mine this morning. I relayed the info from @lexyjoe’s case. My tech also noted the lean is within spec, but he is convinced he can adjust the pressures in the KDSS and lessen it, if not remedy it entirely.
For those fussed about the whole “within spec” thing, that’s not...
