I sat in the second row this past weekend. I put the drivers seat all the way back and as low as it can be which is my usual driving position. I’m 6 foot 1 and more leg biased build and I found that my knees had about less than a half inch of clearance. If I slouched it was touching the back of...
I don’t know if that’s something Lexus typically does other than what they do with F sport trims. I suppose you could always throw an aftermarket badge on the back if you really wanted to stand out
That seems a little high, especially for pre cut installation. What area are you from? I got a front clip ppf for my Tesla a year ago for around 2.5k. Another $1500 on top of that for paint correction and ceramic coat exterior/interior.
It’s a bigger car. I wouldn’t pay more than 6k for the...
it’s an IHI turbo that’s also used in Ferraris. But yes it’s a reputable company that has provenance in the exotic. What you need to take away it’s that it’s a turbo made in Japan.
it’s more the American assembly that causes concerns. Toyota also revised the part that caused failures and moved to a new supplier. The GX is made in Japan so it will have better oversight on assembly.
He’s definitely going to lose some degree of articulation. There’s a prepro lift on that Gx though. Not sure if it’s blocks or new struts. There’s rubbing at full lock but according to the tech who installed it removing the plastics will solve that.
It looks cool, but in all honesty I’m not a fan. They threw some cowboy lift on it and big tires. It’s definitely going to impact ride and articulation.
Finally went to my local dealer to sit in their demo Premium model. They had their first GX allocation presold next to it which was a Luxury. I’m very eager to get my overtrail to say the least. It was a pleasure to walk around the car and sit inside it.
Funny enough my salesperson called me...
But I do! 97 civic, 97 sc300, 04 discovery. You’re the one that seems agitated over ppf lol. But I digress. I need to understand the Lexus demographic is not typically an enthusiast, more so people like you. I just find it odd that a person of your provenance bats an eye to protecting your...
If you go the pre cut template route you will get dirt underneath the edges. But imo it’s better than having nothing at all. In my experience bug stains come out completely fine.
Paint isn’t designed to deflect rocks and debris. I get what you’re saying. You prefer the product as is and are spartan about it. I don’t want to throw any ego at you but from my experience PPF protects your investments.
The question is, would you want to spend over 4k on a forged wheel and save a little unsprung weight, then adding a true AT for just half an inch more tire, give up some nvh and ride quality, or just stick to the OEM? That’s the bigger question
They mocked it up with a +0 wheel. It’s going to be tight. Braid makes forged wheels with the option to spec your offset. If you got a 17x7.5 +50 and put a 285 tire on it you would have the same distance from oem and clearance.
GX still is the best value. The 4Runners are going to be the same or even more with dealer markups as a GX, and there’s going to be more people bidding for them than a GX. The 4Runner is the cash cow for Toyota with is aggressive styling for the NA market. Don’t get me wrong it’s a cool suv but...
I am a proponent of always trying out different wheels and tires on my other cars, but I’ve been recently siding with the “oem is best” camp for this new GX.
I really think that upsizing the wheel/tire will cause more harm than staying oem in my opinion; more nvh, less articulation, worse mpg...
I came across the legendary Bradley Takumi that has a “tuner” spec that is specced for the lc300 world market and should be an attractive alternative to the oem OT wheel
*according to Killy Lexus rep the overtrail wheel is 18x7.5 +50
Instragrammer nytop.store took delivery of the first GX in SoCal. Looks like they are an aftermarket company using their new GX as a test bed for future products.
I have asked if they know the offset of the wheel, but was only...
