I love my 550 for the most part, but having had to remove the stock roof rack and continuing to be embarrassed by the extremely loud brake squeal, I truly think
Lexus should offer us free maintenance for at least an additional year. I'm sure it will get tossed in the trash, but I'm going to send the GM at Park Place an email this weekend with this suggestion.

Not concerned about the break squeal since that is known issue, and the warranty work (covered by Lexus) fixed the problem for me.

The roof rack is another issue. I tried to negotiate with the dealership when I purchased the vehicle to not include the roof rack. It went back and forth for more than an hour and they would not budge; in the end the vehicle had everything else and I was not prepared to walk away because of that.

I knew the roof rack would not work for my long term intended plans, but was not prepared for the excessive noise. I removed it after a few months, and it is sitting in my garage. Will probably through it away. So in effect I am paying twice, once for the rack that I did not want and is noisy; and then a second time for a rack that meets my needs and is not noisy.

My dealership is fully aware of customer complaints regarding the roof rack noise. Other than the GM of a local dealership, any one have other suggestions on how to escalate the issue to Corporate?

Unfortunately once an item (overtrail rack) is on the original window sticker - no dealer will remove it. I had the same issue on my OT+ and they would not budge. Wrap the leading edge in para cord - cuts the wind noise by about 40-50% unless you're going over 70. As far as squeaking breaks - because they are covered by warrantee - they will just say no harm as they are fixing for free

If y’all have some DIY skills, then try applying brake grease between the pad and backing plate to see if that alleviates or resolves the brake squealing. The next approach would be trying a different brake pad with a different pad compound.

Our GX should be arriving soon and if the brake squeal is there and unbearable, then that’s what I’m going to do.

which park place did you buy from? also, are they not fixing the break squeal? i think others have got it fixed under a known lexus service bulletin.

They "Park Place Grapevine" have ordered the parts. That was about 5 weeks ago. I realize the squealing brakes aren't a new issue and they are "slowly" fixing it. The noise just pisses me off more and more each time I drive it.

I think I deserve about $80k in compensation for having to deal with hood flutter, squealing brakes, and the transmission clunk. Where do I file my grievance? There has to be some government agency that would take my case seriously.

Based on what you have endured - YOU ARE A VICTIM! I'm sure we can find some kind of 'make over-landers whole' program out there that was buried in USAID to take care of you. Just don't tell them you deserve $80K - you'll sound like an oppressor.

My vehicle sat at the dealer for 2 weeks before I called to find out the parts are on backorder. That was 2 months ago. No word.

My GX arrived 3 weeks ago from the port. The "new" calipers are UGLY. Looks like something off a Russian farm truck. But they don't squeal.
In all trim levels, the GX doesn't call attention to its brake calipers as you might find on BMW and Mercedes. I don't find the "old" calipers attractive by any means. Can you kindly provide a picture of the new design?

+1, front and rear pics would be great. I got my GX recently and would like to know if I got the old or new brakes. TIA

If they squeak, they are the old ones.
Yeah, I understand that part. I'm 700 miles in and haven't heard anything yet, but would like to know if I got the newer brake setup since mine is a 2024 delivered right around the switch over to 2025 models (mid Feb 2025).
