I had a little scuff on my Overtrail wheel and used a scratch remover compound. I noticed that the Overtrail wheels have a matte finish textured paint from the factory. When I applied the scratch remover, it removed the textured finish and made the finish very shiny and made it smooth, no more textured finish. I didnt know that textured finish will rub off that easily. Warning to people, be careful when washing or applying any wheel cleaner solution on the wheel. You have been warned.

was this your subconscious way of trying to get new wheels?

I feel your pain! While I admire the overall fit and finish of the vehicle, I agree that some areas require special attention and extra care when cleaning. In addition to the wheels, the shiny black plastic cowling below the windshield is an area of concern. With all the abrasive dirt that collects there it is extremely vulnerable to scratches. Also the tailgate area plastic trim above the light bar is also prone to scratches. We just all need to be mindful of this when washing the vehicle. Next time you are in a brightly lit garage you will see what I mean.

I had my whole front wrapped with ppf including those plastic black pieces below the windshield! Also whole car ceramic coating including the rims. I washed it with a car soap and sprayed it with a power washer and have no problems so far

Wow, tough luck on your wheel finish.

I took mine to the wash yesterday. Four days in the Appellation off-roads and the GX needed a lot of water, brushes and elbow grease to get all the dust off. Road dust was everywhere. A lot got up in the folds of the rubber gaskets. Places to wipe down were never ending.

Hi yeah been working on ours. Got all of the paint except the top ceramic applied. The wheel finish has an unusual feel to them. This is quite the vehicle we have. It seems begging for the road underneath but sort of delicate on the surface. I like all of the plastic body protection that will not rust and is replaceable if you damage it, which will also need some frequent care to keep it looking as good as the paint. Snowing right now so GX got its first splash of slush today. We really like it better than anything we have ever had in vehicles.
