Burger JB4 vs AFE Scorcher - Piggy Back Tuners

I was leaning towards the AFE unit. I called them to ask about the Sport and Sport+ dyno results but they say they only publish the race mode dyno's. The torque increase at 3k rpm is about 40% more than stock. I'm not sure that's healthy for a stock motor without other supporting mods. The websites recommends to not use RACE mode for towing.

If you compare AFE and JB4 stock dyno numbers ... JB4 gains is what AFE measured to be stock. JB4 gains start at 3k rpm while AFE is significantly increasing torque before 2k rpm. I think running AFE at Sport+ 100% of the time would be good enough and possible match up to the JB4 which seems to be more on the conservative side.

JB4 on the GX550 is awesome. 93 octane and Map 2 has been flawless over almost 7k miles and counting. I also run JB4 on my Supra which has over 19k miles on the setup. Again, flawless.

I knew I would find another Supra owner on here. That's good to hear. I'm running an Ecutek E50 tune from Jeff Payn on mine. I don't have first hand experience with JB4, my other BMW is running the old Dinan piggybacks that plug into the entire ECU harness.

What is this "race mode" of which you speak?
It's what they call their highest map setting. I ended up pulling the trigger on it and will just run it in Sport mode all the time. 130ft-lb torque gain seems to be a little too much if everything else remains stock. If I decide to go intake charge pipe and exhaust, then maybe ...
