Hi,

Been looking to get a GX550 Premium+ (premium in Canada) but every dealer around Montreal tells me 1-2 years wait.

This is kinda ridiculous when dealers in NY state are calling me to get me one in weeks top.

Starting to be really tired of this supply issue for Canadian market. Lexus Canada tells me supply is still difficult, but I don't buy it since people are getting their GXs in USA and I see inventory at some dealers / coming inventory.

Is it possible to import a new one in Canada? I can arrange a sale thru an american relative in NY.

Have a deposit on a 2025 Premium LC250 but much preferred the v6 biturbo (yes was lucky enough to test drive both).

Yup possible.

Have fun paying US tax’s plus Canadian DUTY, GST/HST, plus any fees to dealer here to get any changes done for import to meet transport Canada standards.

A lot of money to pay to get a mass produced car ( they literally make 30k of these a year right now )a little early…

Btw I can’t find any way to get my car to swap between kph and mph. That’s going to be a requirement for registration so I’d confirm with a dealer what changes can be done before you end up spending shop labour for them to guess

It's not worth it importing a new car to Canada, expensive and too much paperwork.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the wait times will get better in Canada mainly because I think people are impatient and the economy here is taking a nose dive. I think once the initial wave of enthusiasts get their GX orders fulfilled demand is not going to be that strong. Historically GX sales in Canada have been a fraction of the US after accounting for population differences and normal people aren't going to sit around for over a year if they want/need a vehicle.

I'm going to wait for my order but if my current car suddenly needed replacement I'd drop out of the queue and get a body on frame right away. The new QX80 looks great, Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade triplets have just been refreshed, I'd take a base LX if there was allocation, pricing isn't that much higher once you get into the OT+ levels.
