Has anyone painted, powdercoated or replaced the gray portion of the front bumper on the Overtrail? I dont understand why they put a gray piece up front and 2 pieces on the back bumper next to the hitch area? There is no other gray pieces on the vehicle, they look out of place to me. It looks like the premium and luxury versions have a different insert that looks to match the rest of the bumper?

I was going to have my guy wrap it with black ppf, but he did not recommend it since it is plastic. He said vinyl, ppf, or paint will not last long at that plastic material - as the plastic degasses and you will get delamination. It's a bummer, because my vehicle is 100% black and white, with the exception of that little piece on the front and rear.

Aren't bumpers made from the same type of plastic? If so, how do they put full wraps on cars and still have it stick to the bumper? I wonder about plastidip or like a rubberized undercoating? Im not sure if either of those would come out smooth enough to look good though?

back when i had an FJ cruiser we would put brake clean on just the silver surface and it would remove the silver painting/coating to revealing the black abs under. plan on doing that or plastidip/paint that part when i get mine

I had the silver/grey parts in front and back wrapped in matte black. Just a really weird design choice from lexus IMHO to add this random color in these 3 spots. Much prefer the all black, and very happy with result.

Any idea if he had to do anything special to make sure the wrap sticks? My guy did a test and could not get it to stick. Others have said the same but a few seem to have good luck with it.

Unfortunately no details on their process. The front piece had a clear ppf from the dealer that i'm guessing the wrap folks took off. It's been a couple months and is holding up great from what I can see. I disassembled the entire front face and rear end so I could bring in just the plastic sheets that were getting done. Maybe wrapping fully around the edges made it easier than if its being done in place This is not my department, so please excuse the lack of useful details 😬. 3m or avery was the product they used. I reached out for confirmation, and they said they'd message me back once they have time to look it up. I'll update when I hear.

How hard was it to disassemble front and back? If its easy enough, maybe I'll take them off and experiment myself with some 3m vinyl.
