GX550 Overtrail Vibration

I took a test drive in the OT here in Sydney and I could certainly notice the vibrations in the rear on the main road, their excuse was that’s what a body on frame vehicle feels like. I have driven plenty over the years and they have not felt this bad. It was not as bad as a previous post where the water was bouncing all over the place. I pick my new OT up on the 6th Dec, fingers crossed that does not have the vibration issues. Pics of the test drive car attached just for interest and no Sydney does not usually look this overcast! 😀👍.
They let you test drive an OT!? I had to test a Lux+ :/

In my case the vibration/shaking was bad enough to make the passenger seat shake very bad. I could be riding along nice and smooth, hit a bump and it would begin shaking. I just installed a Westcott leveling kit and it has almost done away with the shake. It is still there but 90% better. It makes me think the now stiffer spring is over riding the bad valve settings/computer in the shocks to some extent. Just a guess.
Would love to see a pic of your spacer lifted GX if it's not to much trouble...

Haven’t posted in a while bc the dealer bought my GX Lux + back because they couldn’t fix the suspension chattering after 3 weeks in the shop. That was in May and I’ve been loving my 2024 Sequoia ever since. Wife ended up convincing me to buy her a 2024 Land Cruiser yesterday and I made sure to do a test drive before signing the papers. I can tell you that the Land Cruiser is absolutely as smooth as butter compared to my POS GX 550. The vibration some owners are feeling is not in any way shape or form part of the intended driving characteristics of the vehicle. Being able to drive the LC has 100% convinced me of that. Currently have 75 miles on the LC now and love it. My point: don’t accept any dealer claims that that stiff/shaky/chattery ride isn’t a legit problem that Lexus needs to fix.

Looks like a few LC owners experiencing vibration as well if you do a Google search. Looks like you lucked out with a non-vibrating LC like most GX owners who own non-vibrating GX’s. They are essentially the same car with different powertrains

An update- I had the dealership check out this issue again at the time of the complimentary 5k service. They concluded that 2 tires were "defective" after doing a road force balance and replaced them. High speed vibrations are 95% better.

My dealer has done 2 road force balance’s & keeps talmbout replacing tires blah blah

I owned a 2024 GX550 Overtrail Plus for 2weeks. It was in my possession for two days, the rest of the time it was at the dealership trying to figure out the vibration issue. The dealership was awesome, road forced balanced, installed 4 new tires, etc etc they did everything and could not solve the issue of chatter ride and vibration. My Lexus Dealership was awesome to deal with, they agreed that the GX550 has a major design issue. They ended up taking the GX back and I got the 24 Land Cruiser. I can tell you with 1000% confidence that the Land Cruiser rides SO much smoother. Buttery smooth. Not sure if Lexus ever sorted this out, last I heard is that it had something to do with the AVS that the LC does not have nor does any SUV need. I can say that I serious love the Land Cruiser!

Seems like it’s a roll of the dice with the vibration issue on the Overtrail trim which is obviously a huge concern. I should be getting my OT+ soon as I’m currently #2 in line and just pray like heck that it will be free of issues!! C’mon Lexus, get your act together!

I have an Overtrail and I love and hate the car. I love everything about it - except this VERY annoying chatter / vibration issue. I have had the car for a little over a month and it's not getting any better.

I took the car into San Diego Lexus and told them of the issue and they had it for two days and said there was nothing wrong with it. I have owned over 30 cars in my life and I have never had one that feels like this. There is no way in the world that a $75K vehicle should drive like mine does. I have gotten to the point that I dread driving it, because the issue is so bad. I plan to take it to a different Lexus dealer after the holiday to see what they say. There is no way that a Lexus should drive like this.

The good news is - I love everything else about the car. I am hoping the 2nd dealership finds something when they drive it. (By the way, my brakes don't squeal and my hood does not vibrate - so I guess that's good news....)

I am relieved to see this thread because I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with me!

OT+ here as well…no vibrations but the hood does vibrate at interstate speed. Coming from an FJ Cruiser so…vast improvement in refinement and tech. Also drove a Raptor when cross shopping, same is true IMO. GX is much more refined w higher quality build inside and out.

I'm amazed that there's no identified cause for the vibration thing. I pushed my allocation back for a '25 and if the cause still hasn't been identified by then, I'll buy something else.

Ot+ just got a few days ago. No vibration, and on the hood, at 80mph on the interstate passing a truck when windy out I see a little, but if not for the issue being raised by others I would never have noticed it. Seems about like other vehicles I've had.

Same here with my Overtrail, now at 6,300 miles. Front brake replacement took care of the infamous morning squeal. Great truck so far.
