GX550 Overtrail Vibration

Ive been to my dealers about 7 times. Ive had three separate sets of wheels and tires, so thats definitely not it. I went in for the lean, but they said it was within spec. It vibrates at mostly highway speeds and rattles like crazy over bumps.I have been working with a Lexus rep thru corporate who has been handling my ticket. Every time they come back and say “this is a normal driving characteristic of this vehicle”. Dealer isn't to keen on working with me. I have a Gladiator on 37’s and it drives smoother than this thing. So maybe I am 1,000% wrong, and this is just how its suppose to ride. Its my first luxury vehicle and its just hard to believe this is the “normal” ride quality. I have zero experience with the EKDSS, but something tells me that may be the culprit, because nothing else makes sense.

Have you had them check the drive shaft balance? Replaced the rotors?

Wow man. So f*cked

I have had the TSB done which replaced the front rotors/pads, definitely stopped the screeching sound. I have not asked them to check the drive shaft. You would think after the fifth time I brought it in they would try something else other than the tires, but again my dealer just kind of blows me off and reverts back to Lexus corporate in saying that it’s a normal characteristic. They even wanted to try and charge me for a road force balance when the truck is still under warranty..lol

Haven’t posted in a while bc the dealer bought my GX Lux + back because they couldn’t fix the suspension chattering after 3 weeks in the shop. That was in May and I’ve been loving my 2024 Sequoia ever since. Wife ended up convincing me to buy her a 2024 Land Cruiser yesterday and I made sure to do a test drive before signing the papers. I can tell you that the Land Cruiser is absolutely as smooth as butter compared to my POS GX 550. The vibration some owners are feeling is not in any way shape or form part of the intended driving characteristics of the vehicle. Being able to drive the LC has 100% convinced me of that. Currently have 75 miles on the LC now and love it. My point: don’t accept any dealer claims that that stiff/shaky/chattery ride isn’t a legit problem that Lexus needs to fix. View attachment 5325
We own both a Land Cruiser FE (11k miles) and an Overtrail (6K miles) and thankfully neither has a vibration issue. I am no mechanic but I can’t understand why some % of these cars experience this problem. Would think it would be universal if it is either a design or manufacturing problem.

I think they all probably ride the same but people interpret the quality different. Makes no sense otherwise

There are people in this thread who claimed to have traded in their vibrating 550 and gotten a LC that drives smooth as butter. There are also people who claim to have had varios parts replaced and the vibration stopped, and more recently there are people who claim that the vibration went away after the vehicle “broke in”.

All the above claims would indicate different experiences for the same driver after something was done to it, which would indicate there is some vibration in a small % of units.

Mine has been smooth as butter since day one

Lots of spinning things that can cause problems on an individual level.

Rotors
Wheels
Tires
Drive shafts
Flywheel
Engine mounts
Even the crankshaft lol

Lots of things to think about. Specific rpm? Specific speed? Independent of road quality? Suspension setting normal vs soft vs sport changing the quality of it? Difference of vibration in the front seats vs the back? Does it happen under braking?
