Impact of proposed new tariffs on foreign built cars?

I totally lucked out last night. I wasn't expecting a call for another couple of months, and was starting to resign myself to supercharging my Taco for better towing, but the dealer called me out of the blue because some housewife rejected her allocation. She didn't like the Saddle Tan seats! Lady must either live in a bubble or rich enough to just throw money away. Anyway, as of a few short hours ago, I am the proud owner of a 2025 Overtrail! MSRP and tariff free!
Congrats!

I shopped around at 6 different dealers between NC and VA. I ordered my 2025 Luxury + from a dealer in Alexandria VA in November for MSRP. I picked it up at the beginning of March.
All the other dealers charged a up charge over MSRP ranging from $3,000 to $9,000 for same vehicle.
Just a suggestion that people do a search around several states not just the one you live in. It is worth a drive to save several thousand dollars.

Stopped by my dealership today because my salesman called and said they had some GX's available, just not in the configuration we are looking for. Thought it would be a good time to catch up in person.

He told me that all but 2 models are currently imported. He also told me that people without allocations are starting to back out and ask me if that is why I was there. Told him no and wanted to check on when we might expect news on our allocation. He had nothing. I don't know what Lexus will do but with almost all models being on the import list, I'm thinking that they will have no choice but to raise prices on unallocated vehicles. Just my guess.

I just talked to my dealer. The GX is in customs (Long Beach) and they expect it to hit the dealer by the 16th. I asked if we're still transacting at MSRP from the build sheet, and the answer was a yes BUT they won't know for certain until the truck arrives and they have an invoice from Lexus in hand. Fingers crossed.

Dropped off GX today for 15k service and ran into my salesman. He told me the tariffs will trickle down to MSRP, confirmed by Lexus corporate, how much, he said, is currently unknown. So glad I got my 2024.

For whatever it is worth, I talked to a guy from Toyota who said the guidance they have been given is that they do not expect to increase costs for tariffs until summer at the earliest. And that they will spread the cost of tariffs across all models with an expectation that ~80% of Toyotas sold in the US will be made in America in 2025. If tariffs stick, the cost increase will be between 3-5% of MSRP for new models on top of whatever other cost increases they have planned.

Is anyone else seeing allocations continuing to decline? Maybe it has to do with the way Lexus manages their production runs, but it seems like the OT and OT+ allocations have been reduced to almost nothing in my area --- Ohio/Kentucky. Seems like there are more Premium+ and Luxury+ being allocated right now. That is just what I'm seeing. Wondering if there is anything to it, or if Lexus simply rotates their production among the models.

If I had to guess, the OT models were produced in lesser quantities. All I see in my area are Prem/Lux models. I have seen 3 OTs in the last 4 months (one of them being mine). This is pure speculation.

I have shown my OT to a few friends and they all commented how much they love the look but would really want the 3rd row model.

Update: My GX got to the dealer today. Draft copy of the purchase doc shows no dealer shenanigans. The orginal port installed options that I didn't want were removed and there's no other nonsense added to the price, just MSRP, taxes, title and a doc fee. The vehicle went through customs post April 3, so I was worred they might try to play some sort of traiff games, but it all looks good.

Damn, that's great. Congrats.
