Known GX550 issues in process on my GX550 OT+

Picked up my OT+ today. While the salesman was explaining the infotainment, and features, I laid the key FOB on the most convenient location…the wireless phone charger. He immediately said, “don't place the FOB there, it will drain the FOB battery “ Not sure how they determined this, but he was confident it would kill the battery.

Interesting. I just went in for my 5K and Sewell said Lexus is testing various fixes and they would let me know once it was confirmed. Once they get my new brakes and passenger seat massage part I'll bring this back up about others getting the hood fixed. They definitely acknowledged it as a known issue, along with the brakes and passenger massage if that helps anyone else.

After the 3rd battery died in my fob, they mentioned the wireless charging area would cause the battery to discharge quick. Haven’t had an issue since. I had always put the fob there…doh!

Starting to think that wireless charging area is completely worthless. It doesn't really charge my iphone (very, very slow), makes it get super hot, and now we know it destroys key fob batteries.

Good information here.
Took delivery today - noting the "minor vibrating hood" on drive home.
Will continue to look for those gremlins noted here.
Appreciate the community information sharing/lessons learned.

Thank you for (hopefully) solving my key fob battery discharge problem. I had been storing mine on the left side of the phone charging area, and the batteries have been only lasting about one month.

Just a heads up that I just got my car back (after 10 days) with a huge list of issues resolved or documented to be resolved ASAP. I thought I would share here to potentially help others. I am pretty perfectionist with my cars, so just wanted them to review a lot. :)

1. Brakes - they made the awful scratching sound in reverse with <1000 miles on the car. A Lexus case was created and Lexus approved an updated brake assembly to be installed as replacement. (resolved!)
2. Hood flutter - this is a know issue on earlier GX500s and Lexus is working on a resolve, which will likely be a new hood replacement coming soon. This has been resolved on more recent produced GXs. Dealer thinks something will happen by end of year. (they are asking about how to replace my hood PPF wrap in the process)
3. Driver mirror vibration - at highway speeds the driver mirror vibrates a lot causing a disco ball effect when sun is behind you. (Driver side only). This is know and a replacement assembly is coming soon.
4. Programming windows down and walk-away features - This is just a preference, but they programmed the car so that holding the unlock on fob will roll windows down. They also updated rear gate to only go down after I walk away from the vehicle and not immediately when rear button pressed.
5. Key fob battery - both of my brand new key fob batteries were dead and I was getting "key not found" messages constantly. I didn't think a brand new key would have battery issues, so had them look at it. Turns out there was a large batch of 2024 vehicles (various models) that shipped with bad batteries. They replaced in both fobs and all is great now.
6. Rear seat heaters - on high, you could hardly feel warmth. They tested and had to adjust something and now they work much better.
7. ML Stereo producing almost no bass - I have posted before, but I have a support case open directly with a Case Manager at Lexus and they are still working on an enhancement to produce more bass sound. (no just mid) She updates me regularly but not resolve has been determined yet.

Hope this helps the community. I LOVE my GX so much and knew early production, first year models would have weird issues. This too shall pass...
I picked up my 2025 GX550 three weeks ago and I have the driver mirror vibration issue. It gets worse when it's windy. Did you get yours fixed? If so, could you provide any documentation? I brought mine in to the dealership, and the technician said they are not allowed to test drive at "highway speeds." I also have other issues, but I won't list them here.

Thank you so much for the candid information sharing! I'm one month in with only 500 miles but 100% have the hood flutter (noted it on my test drive) and hearing the brake squeak. I have not yet made it to the dealer service department. is their active TSBs for both these issues? The brake assembly should be a no brainer; but replacing the hood (that I have ceramic and PPFd) is the more pressing concern. #Following this thread for more experiences from others. Thanks again! ~skip

They don’t replace the hood, they just repair it. All work is underneath
