Just joined this forum to learn more about owner experiences with their GX 550s. Lexus was never on my radar and I've owned 4 Wranglers, 2 Defender 90s, 3 new Broncos and a 1998 4Runner I loved very much. My current Bronco has the Sasquatch pkg with 35s and front & rear diff lockers and the V6 engine. I want something more civilized, but capable and I'm not crazy about getting a hybrid. I test drove a GX Luxury yesterday and I loved it. I'm most interest in the Overtrail, not Overtrail+. Also, probably wanting to wait for the 2025 with the extra ground clearance and air compressor.

As of today, GX Overtrail seems to be the most perfect vehicle out there for my wants and desires!? Hoping to learn a bunch more from everyone here!

A good friend of mine bought a Bronco back in May. I got my 550 in August. He said the road noise in his bronco is horrible compared to my 550. Beware of the Port installed factory roof rack on the 550. If you don’t want/need a roof rack, have dealer try to delete off your build before it gets to port.

Don’t pay a dealer markup, as there are plenty of dealers out there selling at msrp, and without thousands of dollars worth of forced crap they put on the car (ie. PPF, tint, nitrogen etc…). You can do all that for much cheaper than dealer cost if you want to 3rd party.

Your bronco weighs about 1000 lbs less than a 550 but your v6 also has less HP.

The refinement is definitely more pronounced in the Lexus vs the Bronco.

If you do get a 550. Test drive the hell out of it before signing the papers, as an unfortunate number of 550’s have a vibration issue that no dealer has seemed to be able to locate and fix; however, most are smooth as butter. Drive it at highway speed for sure on the test drive

Thanks for the tips! I'm in touch with 2 dealers that charge MSRP and don't add on any crap. I had already planned to have the roof rack deleted or just remove myself and use on rare occasions. I've heard about the vibration issue and making sure it doesn't have that is key. I'm waiting for the 2025 OT, so hopefully they'll get the kinks out by then?

What trim do you have? Overall are you happy with the purchase?
