Night drive and Outback Australia

Cool video, great landscapes, reminds me of my home state of Arizona. I couldn't quite relax while watching the beginning with the dark, twisty roads because I was afraid you were going to get into a head-on collision....my instincts tell me you're on the wrong side of the road!

Thanks for that, I know exactly what you mean, it looks all wrong when you’re used to driving on the other side of the road. I grew up in Canada so when I moved to Australia it took a while to get comfortable on the other side of the road, now I can switch with no problems.

Mate that is awesome, doing Australia proud! 🇦🇺 you certainly need to get yourself some type of Roo bar or you won’t have a nice front bumper for long! I don’t think most American overlanders realise how important front protection is here in Australia for the vehicle, especially the time of day when you’re driving, your prone to animal strikes.

Thanks bud, I’m enjoying doing it but it’s taking a while to get my head wrapped up in editing and talking/narrating without getting too boring. I just finished another trip home minutes ago (just under 3000km in 3 days) and while the fuel economy is getting worse, the car is getting better. I’m using the airport Valet tomorrow so I should get it back next week, serviced and washed….I LOVE the perks of Lexus! (I’ll work on editing todays video and get that up soon).

Fuel economy: Can you please share the numbers.

Hi Cruiser, sure, when I first got the car I was getting 11.3 litres per 100 but that has been creeping up, the last trip I was averaging 12.4, same roads and the way I drive however it was much hotter lately we were over 40ºc a fair bit of the time so it’s either that or because it was due for it’s 10,000km service. I’m not sure why the consumption has gone up, maybe a combination of both or even something I haven’t thought about. In town 13-15 is what a regularly get.
Hope that helps.

What are you running your tyre pressures at? 35 PSI?

Your videos are great. It gives me a whole new appreciation of Australia. I spent some time there many years ago and loved the country and the people.
Thanks for letting me know you enjoy the videos, I’m brand new at this and my reasoning was, if I find something interesting I’m sure someone else will too!
Australia is Great, I moved here 30 years ago from Canada and I still love discovering the hidden. gems in this amazing land.

I moved here (NSW) in 2008 from the UK and love it! If anyone gets the chance to visit such a wonderful country definitely take it. I fly up to Sunshine Coast in Queensland tomorrow for 10 days for a break with my family, going to be epic. Pick up my brand new GX 550 OT on the 6th Dec when I return so cannot wait! 😀👍

Never made it to Australia…yet. My mother travelled there after my father died and so many people took her under their wings and she loved it. A handful of Aussies later came to Vermont to visit her and I took them sailing on Lake Champlain. Have to get there soon!

It is a really great place, like everywhere there are some not so good areas but overall it’s a friendly country. Vermont is beautiful, I’ve been there a couple of times. When you do make it Australia don’t just go to the cities, make sure you get out into the country, it’s worth it.
