Premium Fuel Required

So I was watching a YouTuber video and screen shot this:

I wonder which is it? Driver manual says recommended and this says required. I plan to run premium fuel nevertheless.

Twin Turbo V6, computer is tuned to use 91 Octane (Premium) Mininum. This isn’t a Tundra, don’t worry about their requirements for fuel.

I'm all for running premium fuel for extra performance if the vehicle is tuned for it.

It's odd the Tundra which is tuned to run 87 octane would have more horsepower:

2024 Tundra - 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 Produces 389 hp, 479 lb-ft
2024 GX550 - 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 Produces 349 hp, 479 lb-ft

I wonder if they changed the programming of the ECU and figured they would sell more Tundra's with the 87 gas vs requiring 91 and losing sales.

I heard all types of rumors: different trim on the turbos, tuned for longevity, not taking sales of LX600, etc... I figure we will know once the head engineer explains it one of these days.

ehh just put the highest octane in your area if you can afford it. In California we mostly cap at 91. If you're in other regions just look for 93 and above. Just dont put 110 in it lol.

The 2024 GX550 engine is a 3.4L engine.
