Hello all, I recently purchased gx550 white pearl ext. and noticed a paint defect? on the hood of the car. Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it? I tried to rub it with my finger and not coming off at all. Any ideas?

You should contact your selling dealer as soon as possible to document the issue. This is yet another reason you need to inspect your new vehicle thoroughly in well-lit conditions before accepting delivery. It's likely that the clearcoat has swirls from the adhesive backed protective sheets applied during transport to the dealer. A professional clearcoat cleaner and wax such as "M-Ron Glass" should remedy this, but it's best that your dealer examines this before you try to fix this on your own.

Thank you for your insights. Contacted the dealer and waiting for the response. Hope it's not something major.

Just a word of caution. You should never attempt to "rub out" paint defects using your finger as contamination can cause further damage and micro scratches in the clear coat. As a minimum the surface should be wetted down with a detailer or other suitable wetting agent. Your dealer should step up and have the entire hood professionally detailed and evaluated for paint correction. Hopefully it's just residue from the protective film which can be removed with clearcoat cleaner and polish. Anything beyond this would be a cause for concern.

Just came back from the dealership. Fortunately it was just a residue from the protective film.

I just purchased a nori green premium plus and my retailer noticed this same issue on the hood. He said it was under the clear. Was the dealer able to remove yours? Was it above the clear?

I always mess up when I try to rub one out.

Oh man sorry to hear that. Mine was just a residue from the temporary film and fortunately came right off. Contact the retailer and have them take care of it. Hope everything works out.

did you feel the residue when you touched it? The markings looks exactly the same as yours so just curious if it’s even the same thing, I can’t see it in daylight only when there’s a spotlight like my garage flood light on it

No, didn't feel the residue when I touched it. If the markings looks exactly the same as mine, then it's just a residue from the temp. film (really hope this is the case). The dealer should be able to get that out in no time.

My dealer told me that the protective shipping film sometimes isn't properly adhered everywhere, in particular the hood, and water/etc. gets under it and causes paint splotching or something similar on some deliveries. They apparently have a process that if they see it, they can correct it before the car is delivered to the purchaser. Perhaps not all dealers check it carefully enough to see it and fix it. Obviously, they should do that.
