So what do I do with this $1,500 roof rack?

Never had one, always threw my gear, skis, whatever in the back, dropping seats as necessary. Kayaks or ski box? Can do this with some cross bars. Sell on classifieds? Already a bunch for $500 with no takers. Dealership's not interested in a trade. Tent? I'll drive back to the cabin.

I guess it would be good for moving lumber, but again cross bars would probably do the trick. I'm feeling like it's going to be a $1,500 garage decoration but would love to get some value out of it.

What say you?

I feel your pain. The dealer wouldn't delete the rack so I'll be stuck with it when the car gets here. Consider it a $1,580 loss. Could be worse I suppose.

yea. I feel your pain. I rather have the cross bar than the factory rack. And if I wanted a “rack” I would get the westcott. The stock rack looks a bit funny to me. Maybe you can sell it for 4-450. Atleast you’ll get SOmE value for it. The reason why it’s probably hard to sell for much more than that is because you would be near what the westcotts sell for.

I guess some of us were lucky when the dealer removed and gave us money off the deal. I am assuming they are not doing that any longer as they must be stacking them up in their parts departments....

for free? or will you charge me for you to pick up this rack
Simply a misunderstanding it appears, I’d totally split the gas for you to deliver and install it!!!! ///// Happy to work out something fair if anyone is close:) However-and not quotable since I do not recall where I read or heard it, but I think Lexus is coming out with a “new and improved” OT roof rack fairly soon?

I bought one of these but it was pretty flimsy. Sportsman's Trunk - Large

Thought I would throw a bit of firewood in it when heading up to the cabin but it was really too small for that. Thinking of trying this one. Rubbermaid 48 gal. Black Action Packer Lockable Latch Storage Box Tote, Single RMAP480000 - The Home Depot

Any suggestions on roof top boxes without going into the $400 range?
I had intended on putting hard cases on the roof but given the low gas mileage I get already in Eco with nothing on top, I bought the below hitch mount carrier which I load hard case items in and then use the included bag to carry soft, smaller items on the roof rack:

Mockins 60"x24"x6" Folding... Amazon.com

Mine is leaning against the wall in the garage. IF, I ever need it, which I highly doubt, I will reinstall it. The wind noise it made was very annoying.

That's what I heard from my sales person, but have seen no evidence of it yet.

Like some others on here. Is in my garage taking up space. Will likely get an aftermarket rack (Prinsu, Wescott, etc) with reportedly little to no wind noise. The rack from the factory will be given away. I spent over an hour at the dealership trying to delete the rack when I bought the the vehicle but they would absolutely not budge and it seemed silly to back out of the purchase just because of that.

I would just find a place to store it. Never know when I would need to use the 3rd row. At that time, the cargo roof will be the only place to keep luggage for all the 7 people.
