Way to take the bull by the horns! The brakes on our GX started squealing a lot at around 2,500 miles. My dad (Toyota master tech with 40+ years under his belt.) suggested applying some “CRC Brake Disc Quiet” between the shims.
It’s been a week since I applied it and we’ve put around 500 miles/parked overnight in 30-60 degree temps. Happy to report no sounds!
Hoping this can be a temporary (maybe even permanent) fix for those dealing with backorders.

"peeling" out sound,My brakes squeak bad. This vehicle has been in Santa Fe for most of the few months I've owned it so humidity isn't the problem. It also make a pelling out sound out of one of wheels when turning right and I can't figure that out. I took it into the dealership this morning and the advisor told me they've had lots of complaints about the squeaking brakes
At New Country Lexus, Latham for 5K service and they are replacing front brake rotors and pads as I type this.I have my 5,000 mile appointment next week and will find out then….
CorrectTook mine in and they are replacing the FRONT pads, rotors, shim kits and fitting kit.
This is exactly right lol when I’m sitting at my desk on a teams meeting in my office at home, I can hear my wife’s brakes backing out of the driveway. It is embarrassing for the new $90,000 car driving in thr neighborhoodSame brake squeal on GX550 Lux Plus with about 1300 miles. Backing out of garage for the first time each day or after it sat for a while. Minnesota. VERY LOUD.
Dealer technician said it's a known problem and the parts are in short supply. I'm waiting patiently while my wife get's embarrassed every morning backing out of the driveway. "Cool new car... sort of."
I absolutely agree. This is exactly right lol when I’m sitting at my desk on a teams meeting in my office at home, I can hear my wife’s brakes backing out of the driveway. It is embarrassing for the new $90,000 car driving in thr neighborhood
The TSB front brake repair on my Overtrail seems to have taken care of it. Should note my wife’s Land Cruiser First Edition has same issue and so far Toyota has yet to admit there is a problem. Does make me wonder if the brakes are identical on both vehicles. This is exactly right lol when I’m sitting at my desk on a teams meeting in my office at home, I can hear my wife’s brakes backing out of the driveway. This a known and admitted problem by Lexus corp that has a TSB, and a very specific replacement of defective parts for free.1 MONTH UPDATE: It has been exactly 1 month since we've applied CRC gel. We have driven the GX around 2,500 miles in temps ranging from 15F-60F degrees and have not heard a single squeak. It's been quiet as a mouse in all the conditions we put it through. I'm going to go ahead and consider this an adequate fix for the squeaky brake issue but will keep an eye out for anything in the future! Happy holidays everyone!
