Show us a picJust got mine on yesterday. Not "zero" wind noise, but WAAAAAAY more tolerable than the stupid Lexus bolt-on rack. And it looks KILLER. Even better in person. Changed the whole look of the rig, and I don't even have my lift/tires/wheels/etc on there yet.
Just posted a bunch right above your post. They are showing in my feed.Show us a pic
It has a nice flow to the rack that aligns with the roof line.Just posted a bunch right above your post. They are showing in my feed.
Thanks for posting the photos. I have the same Gx Overtrail color combo with the OEM rack. The wind noise from the Overtrail roof rack has not bothered me, so I never considered a roof rack change, but after seeing these photos...... I might reconsider. It looks great. Congrats!
"Suspended above the roof"...it must make quite a bit of wind noise/whitling at hwy speeds?!Hey guys and gals, excited to announce that our Reconn Platform is finally here IN STOCK in Denver and shipping next day. We have limited quantity and orders are coming in. Here with any questions, and link to order below.

I put black vinyl on the rain channels which helped a bit. The backbone platform whistled around 35-45mph which is prime local driving speeds and I couldn't do it. I also tried putting in strips of foam in the channels which didn't help.Unfortunately, the wind noise is much more significant than I expected. However, I had to remove some of the little "covers" that cover up the rain channels since the rack base mounts didn't have a flange that goes over them (like the stock ones) to keep them in place and Rhino Rack's 3m double sided tape recommendation did not work at all. So, possibly the noise could come from that? Some of the reasons I bought this rack was because it looks really perfect (even better in person!), it has a lot of accessories for the future, and it has a front fairing that does NOT touch the roof. I may try to find another way to get those rubber pieces back in the rain channels and see if that helps. If it doesn't, then I may try to install a soft rubber piece between roof and bottom of fairing. Honestly, I think Rhino Rack should address these things, but I have not yet tried to contact them about it. Maybe they will read this and provide some feedback to their customers.
Can you elaborate more on the wind noise? How is it for "everyday" driving. Under 45mph? Over 45mph on highway type roads?Just got mine on yesterday. Note this was on my 4runner. I do not own this particular rack for the GX550. It was more of a high pitch whistling noise at low speeds and at high speed it sounds more like wind buffeting. Can you elaborate more on the wind noise? How is it for "everyday" driving. Under 45mph? This is BY FAR the best looking rack I've seen to date. And most functional. I don't plan to take it off, so just want to make sure the wind noise is manageable. I don't expect it to be silent on windy days, or even going 75+ mph, but just curious about it.

Sure. It is over 40 or 45 mph where you start noticing it. I expect some wind noise, but it’s starting to bother me. I really notice it when it’s windy and I’m driving over a bridge for example. However I have no issues of a cross wind causes noise because that’s not constant. I definitely notice it on the highway. You hear it right where the fairing is, right above your sun visors. I had posted before that it’s way less noise than the stock one, and it is, but I believe that a simple fairing piece or maybe the foam tube hack or similar would fix it. All of these aftermarket roof racks have failed to have a good solution for keeping the black strips in the rain channels. As said before the stock mounts go out over these slices to hold them down. So my plan is to revisit the 3m tape for now to see if putting that strip back helps wind noise, and if not, then trying the foam tube hack or similar. Can you elaborate more on the wind noise? Thank you for the response. If yours is quieter, then maybe it’s the absence of the black strips in the rain channels. On the front. I need to find a better way to get those to stay in there and I can report back. But as stated here in other posts, would be nice if all aftermarket racks had a plate (or some similar design to the OEM mounts) that holds those in place.Hey there, just wanted to acknowledge your message. There are quite a few of these on the road now, including some key stakeholders at Toyota, and this is the biggest complaint I've heard on wind noise.
The body lines on the GX/LC are flat out tough to accommodate. It was a conscious choice not to set the deflector on the body which could add to the issue.
Overall I have about 3-4k miles under my belt across the GX and Land Cruiser and have been satisfied, trying to keep bias out of it. There have been a handful of times on the road at 75+ mph and crosswinds where it makes itself known, and surprisingly when I had a rooftop tent on top of the GX it was whisper quiet.
I will pass the feedback along to engineering. I honestly don't know how these stack up against Prinsu, Westcott, Sherpa, etc. who hug the roof and it's possible they could be better by hugging the body. Hope this helps!
