This is with the Yakima box? 5" is really low. Sorry it didn't work out. MY Thule Motion Alpine XT easily fit longer and fat skis, 6 pairs of adult skis, including pow skis. Snowboards have to lie flat though. I even have height to lay a moving blanket to soften noise from skis when going over bumps. The box also has space for poles and some other stuff, there is at least 8 to 10" of vertical height inside. The reason I prefer boxes to exposed skis is I don't want to deal with road salt and dirt on the bindings when its snowing or raining. Also prefer boxes for security. The GX550 is already pretty tall and a full size box won't clear many garages.

Yeah, the GrandTour Low. Total box dimensions were probably 8" tall but the way the inside was constructed, the floor of the box stood very high up from the bottom of the box. Not recommended. Your box looks great, and yes I like the idea of them better.

I am picking up this box from rack attack today and wondering how it will fit snowboards. Do you have any pictures of your setup before you took it off?

Bring your boards there and try them out before mounting. The regular grand tour will be better than the low, but wasn't long enough for my skis.

I have the same wheels on my OT. What size tires to you have and do you have a lift? It looks great

I copied you. Bought a used one on Amazon. Will transfer to the Victory rack and make a better connection when I get and install it.
Connection is good enough for some skis, but I want it better connected if I'm going to throw firewood or anything of weight in it. Just need to remember in the office garage, STAY IN TOP SECTION!

Yes, I'll take a picture and post later but I mounted Rhino Rack rails for a Jeep system to the 8020 cross bars (Victory, Westcott, Prinsu), and used Thule T-Slot connector. Flush mount and solid.

Just finished installing, haven't had a chance to test drive over 50mph, so far at that speed no difference in noise.

No additional noise up to 75mph

Got a chance for a longer trip, there is noticeable wind noise above 70mph. Noise varies depending which way the wind is coming from. Sometimes it’s pretty quiet at 80mph, other times it is decently loud at 70mph.

Interesting. This is my hesitation with putting the bars on the top. Even with no bars on top, I find that wind noise is noticeable above 70 mph. I always think it’s extra windy outside when I drive fast only to realize it’s probably because I’m driving In a rolling brick. Now making it even louder than that, ughh.
