Where to keep a holstered pistol ...

With such limited storage in the GX, if you carry, I've tried to figure out a safe and workable location to mount an accessible pistol and came up with this idea.

Two seasons ago I bought a CC vest that had 2 velco-backed adjustable holsters. These holsters stick to the carpeted wall of the console like glue. Mounted here, the firearm is out of the way, yet easily at my right hand.

Pictured is a Sig 229 and a smaller Sig 938. Here's the link to the vest if anyone has similar interest.

On every vehicle I just tuck it right along the right side of the driver's seat between the seat cushion and the center console. Put it slide-down, "aimed" at the back seats with the grip sticking straight up. I also keep a large knife (very large knife) in a leather sheath tucked down there at the very bottom so the pistol/holster combo sits on top of the knife, and therefore sits up a bit higher.

That looks great. Wonder if I should put in the “battery” bulge, but instead of batteries it’s a small armory in the trunk.

Think CBP would mind a small collection of SBR’s under the floor?

You're in Canada....who's going to check?

I try to just keep mine on my belt in a paddle holster. Keep in mind i'm full time LE. When I'm off, I generally carry a Sig P365 Legion in a low profile Red Hill Tactical ISWB holster. It fits in the cup holder nicely between stops. The cool box is pretty worthless and you already know.

I like that set up - but would want to less visible. I would not want to forget it there when I ran into a store and have it be visible.

Another vote for on my belt. It's readily accessible, if needed, and there's no need to try to have to remember its there.

The bigger question is, has anyone figured out a place to put lockboxes, for when you need to discreetly park your firearm before entering a 'sensitive' place? I did a quick check, and there's not enough clearance below the front seats to stash the box under there, anchored to the seat hardware like there is in my wife's Equinox.

On a good side, the storage space under the floor will hold both lockboxes, but I'd rather not stash them while being visible. That would be a solution for travel through 'less than friendly' states.

Are you attacked frequently?

Running a Vaultek with the steel cable bolted to the seat. It is accessed easy and fits under the seat. Otherwise in the coolbox or cupholder.

The front of the seat is to low, I have just ordered the Desert Does it seat jackers to try and fix that. So currently it's not, but you can get a longer cable or not use one.

Why bother with fancy holsters or safes - there are plenty of options already available to us. The dash option has advantages - very visible to other drivers so that merging in becomes painless. The cup holder while obvious, means you have to hold your beer or martini glass between your legs - not very advantageous if you are on your way over to a blind date and you spill....
