These windshields seem very prone to stone chips and cracks, needing replacement. Has the glass manufacturer changed for 2026. I was told that Lexus was considering changing the glass supplier.

I will be replacing my windshield for a second time. Both times a rock hit high, in the shade part of the glass, crack started and went all the way down. Never had a vehicle with so many windshield problems. I wish I would have put a film on. They definitely need to switch suppliers!!!These windshields seem very prone to stone chips and cracks, needing replacement. Has the glass manufacturer changed for 2026. I've owned 2 Landcruisers, a 4runner, and a cherokee; never had issues with the windshields. The deflection angle is not as severe as some of the jeeps. They don't seem to have as many problems. We live in Vermont so replacing windshields seems like a normal thing…..
No question the GX (and my wife’s Land Cruiser) are stone magnets with their large, almost vertical windshields. Doubt it is a glass quality thing as opposed to lack of deflection angle, but what do I know!
Even my 1985 CJ7 , which has its original windshield, has not experienced so many rock chips as my GXI've owned 2 Landcruisers, a 4runner, and a cherokee; never had issues with the windshields. The deflection angle is not as severe as some of the jeeps. They don't seem to have as many problems.
I got my front bumper/hood done plus windshield with Xpel I believe for all of it. Not enough highway miles yet on mine to know how it'll fare, but hoping it'll make a difference. I had one of those hood deflectors on my 5th gen 4Runner and while a lot of people had issues with those windshields too, I never had any chips/cracks with some pretty long road trips. Not sure if just lucky or if the deflectors really help a lot, but wish we had a US option for one.I had the Xpel rock guard installed about a year ago, has taken some hits here on the AZ roads, a few nicks in the Xpel is visible. I am a believer! Certain a least 2 of the hits would be a large crack or chip.
