I am a little confused about the way Westcott describes his collar lift. He says the collar gives you more preload, thus raising you vehicle, while maintaining the same suspension travel and path. Wouldn't 35s still rub at full compression with that lift then?
Pretty disappointing towing performance. Looks like Toyota overstated their towing capacity by a couple thousand pounds. 9000lbs would be under ideal (flat) conditions. Is that pretty common for car manufacturers?
Ah, I see. I would not expect gravity to have much of an impact as long as you dont go crazy. I would think a few quarter-sized dots placed sparingly around the panel would suffice.
Sorry, I am going to advise against that. Take the time to do things the right way and you will be far happier with the results.
@Bluegill I assume you mean you don't want to remove the trim piece that is in the way, and not the actual hood itself, which is not necessary. Its super easy to...
This problem affected the 3rd gen Tacoma, and many other previous and current models apparently. The fix is this expanding foam from 3m, which is designed for this purpose...
That sounds expected to me. Most off-road oriented vehicles will trade off some small bump compliance for big bump and bottom out resistance. When I upgraded the suspension of my Tacoma to top of the line ADS shocks, it actually felt worse on the road but ate high-speed ruts and washboards for...
That would be the smartest move, especially if you are not in urgent need of a new vehicle. You get to support a business with at least some scruples, and while you wait you can save up more money for the down payment and/or some dope upgrades!
+1
Don't be fooled into thinking you need a $5k ceramic coating (wax), or a $400 strip of rubber along your door edge. Toyota dealerships are the worst.
Not mine in the picture but I will be picking up my new T@b 400 in 5 weeks! So freaking excited. Will be towing it with the Taco for now until it is my turn on the waiting list for the GX.
People are saying its the same powertrain as the land cruiser hybrid, which makes 326 horsepower and 465lb ft.
I dont mind the placement of the battery but I do mind the looks.
It seems really odd that Toyota went with 4 cylinder engine on the hybrid GX. The hybrid options on both the Tundra and Tacoma are a step up because the hybrid components are mated to the same engine and give us a moderate boost in HP and torque. Going from 6 cylinders to 4 in the GX just...
