2024 Lexus GX Gas Mileage

The old Lexus GX V-8 model was a gas guzzler at 15/19 MPG city/highway. The new 2024 GX will offer an estimated 17 mpg combined. I'm guessing 16 city - 20 highway. I was hoping for a little better, but it's certainly not a deal killer. Anyone else disappointed?

I was surprised by the combined mileage as well. Our P400 Defender is currently averaging over 20 mpg and has had great fuel mileage for a boxy SUV.

What is the source of the above estimated MPG? The non-hybrid Tundra is rated at 17/22/19, City/Highway/Combined. Will the 2024 GX meet or exceed this? One would think it would come in appreciably lighter than the Tundra at a tad under 5000 lbs, and better economy? Wishful thinking? Of course, presumably premium fuel will be recommended.

I can't seem to find anything on the Lexus website or in the press release, however Car and Driver mentioned: "Lexus claims a combined fuel-economy rating of 17 mpg, a slight bump over the old V-8 GX460's 16 mpg combined." I sure hope it's over 20mpg on the highway.

I have the same thought. On GX website 23mpg on highway and 17 combined. Should it be better than Tundra? basically the same engine and transmission. Tundra is bigger and more drag on highway, and probably is heavier. Maybe because of different all wheel drive system?

Tundra's twin turbo 3.5V6 is 389hp, GX's is 349, it should take regular gas.
