Front cross traffic alert observation

When I test drove an OT back in June I noticed immediately on the test drive how annoying the front cross traffic alert was. When I was stopped at an intersection on the test drive and had cars approaching from either the left or right there was a beep and a message on the driver information display. I picked up my OT+ on Friday and immediately noticed that, when stopped at an intersection, I was only getting the chevrons in the HUD and on the information display and not getting the annoying beeping. Anyone else know what triggers the beep vs. just the graphics? I'm certainly happy for it to be quiet, just wondering if that's a recent software change or some sort of setting/behavior that keeps it quiet when sitting at a stop sign or stop light.

I’ve switched all the stuff to silent and find it much easier site to ignore.

Ya it sits there flashing in the hud when you are stopped at a light. Doesn’t bother me that much,

First of all, you have to turn OFF front cross traffic alert each & every time you re-start the vehicle. It's annoying as hell and I hope someone comes up with a permanent OFF setting (Carista? or the dealer hopefully?).

Second, it always has the right or left chevrons in the HUD if there is cross traffic. I think that it only beeps at you if you are easing up on the brake and inching forward, as if the vehicle is telling you, "Good God man! What are you doing? Can't you see there is front cross traffic?" I guess the Lexus engineers forgot that normal human beings inch forward, anticipating a gap in traffic that they can see with their own eyes, to turn right at a red light, or turn right or left at any stop sign, or enter a road from any other road or parking lot.

That's probably it. I turned on the brake hold (love that feature, had it on my Macan) and generally just sit at stop signs and lights until it's my turn to go. When I test drove the GX I didn't turn on the brake hold and I generally lift my foot off the brake just before the cross traffic has gone by. Without a brake hold I'm sure it would beep as I do that, but since I'm not feeding in throttle until the cross traffic is in front of me I haven't heard it in my new GX. Well, maybe once or twice, but not at every intersection like I did on the test drive. For now I can certainly live with it on. We'll see what the future brings.

It's the wife's car so she leaves it on. Thus everytime I'm driving I intentionally creep forward to set it off and on and off and on.

Agreed, those chevrons in the HUD don't bother me at all.

Yes, all the visual stuff on the HUD or dash display isn't really a bother. A normal person is looking out at the cross traffic, plotting your next move. It's the annoying beeps that do the opposite of what they are supposed to do.....the beeps divert your attention away from the danger (visually seeing and constantly updating your analysis of the cross traffic) and make you instinctively look at the dash to find out WTF the vehicle is squawking about. A very poorly conceived and executed "safety system."

Now, the rear cross traffic is actually a very useful system. Seems to be about the same as front cross traffic but it's actually a completely different set of variables at play.

My experience is if you taking your foot of the brake then it will beep doesn’t have to be fully of break depending on when the censor readsit
