I have a brand new Overtrail and discovered some rust on the lower river that holds the gas door hinge to the body. I already put some touch up paint on it to prevent further rust. I have found that this rust is normal on 4Runner forums. You guys might want to check and put a dab of touch up. Here is a pic that I found that has the same problem.

Did you try to show. dealer first by the time I get mine it might be rusted through

Thanks for the heads up! I will check mine later. I bunged up the front bumper a bit on a mesquite tree that was in the "trail" I was going down earlier last week and when I took it into the dealership and asked about a paint stick, to my surprise they went ahead and filled it in a bit for me at no charge. You can tell I chipped the paint but it sealed it up well enough. Looking forward to getting some steel front and rear bumpers for this thing.

After seeing this thread, I checked my Land Cruiser First Edition fuel filler door hinge.

Exactly the same rust!

Seems like we should all make a concerted effort to advise our Lexus/Toyota service departments about this at the next visit.

All good here, I have also checked the liner around my sunroof and floor boards after every wash and no issues!

Another rather annoying issue with the fuel filler door hinge...if you haven't yet noticed...there is no 'spring action' on the hinge which will keep the door fully open and restrained when refueling. Which means if you're refueling on a windy day, that door will keep slamming into the fuel nozzle if you don't use your other hand to keep it open. On most other vehicles, the door remains open on its own. Not what I would expect from Lexus. But then again, the GX is a departure from traditional Lexus expectations in many ways.
