Hello all,
I’m a new GX owner. I was very excited to bring home my atomic grey overtrail GX550 yesterday but unfortunately I’m experiencing suspension issues 😶. It’s got 98km/61 mi on the odometer but it only had 5km when I took possession. Love the body style and all the tech stuff.

I’m bringing it in to the dealership on Monday.

I have a 2007 100 series LC so I know what good quality suspension is like. I hope they solve this issue! Or me being a GX550 might be short lived. I wish my experience was more positive, hopefully that will change.

There is a chatter when the vehicle goes over road bumps and the suspension seems flat. It doesn’t soak up any bumps like what you would expect in an off-road vehicle. Also when I’m driving the vehicle the hood is noticeably slanted to the passenger side.

Check tire pressure and tire balance first. Also one poster had breaks done because of squealing in reverse and said that corrected issue. No one else has tied the two together yet but Lexus just came out with the break fix a week or two ago, and I am not sure if the parts are readily available yet.

"brake" ;)

We did lower the tire pressure to 35 PSI and that definitely helped. There’s a bit of a chatter going over bumps at lower speeds and it still has the right leaning issue.

I think the suspension is just tuned really tight for this truck. Going over small bumps are jarring at times for me. I really miss my other vehicles for ride quality in shi%** roads. That said going over large obstacles is where this vehicles shines. And the road presence can’t be stated enough. Hah.

Idk man. I almost think it simultaneously feels ‘boaty’ and harsh 🤪
No. I agree with you! It’s the worse of both worlds. You assume harsh means it’s going to handle real flat. Not the case here!

With my Macan. It handled really well AND it was a champ with bumps. Best of both worlds imo.

I agree that the Macan has far superior handling, but kind of two different vehicles. I actually don’t mind the suspension in the GX. I do miss my Macan…

Its wild lol. Almost hard to describe
It’s almost like it needs more weight on it so it can load the springs so it can be less harsh? Maybe this vehicle was meant to have a heavier payload and the suspension was tuned for that? I usually just ride with my wife and kids in the truck and it’s harsh over small bumps and cracked /potholy roads.

Yes. Very different rides. But I feel like Lexus could have tuned the GX a little more towards on road comfort. They must know 90% of people will not be taking these trucks off road most of the time.

I had that lean issue also. I lifted it. lol now its not there anymore.
I also have 35 inch tires so I think vibration is going to happen lol. I also lowered psi to 30psi and definitely better. I still suspect the KDSS needs some tuning.

I have an OT and was expecting a relatively harsh ride. I don’t have any seat time with the premium or luxury, but if the ride is similar then I see your point.

it should pretty much be the same as the luxury as they both have the AVS. OT should actually be a bit cushier due to the taller sidewall - but i think underlying characteristics are the same.
