💸 The 'official' I put my deposit down list...

Put my name down at the following dealerships. Can't wait!

Park Place Lexus Plano on 1/25/25
  • Earth OT with Chateau
  • Estimated 4-6 months

Sewell Lexus of Dallas on 2/27/25
  • Earth, Eminent White Pearl, Atomic Silver/Black Onyx OT with Chateau
  • Estimated 6-8 months

Just put down a deposit on a 2025 Nightfall Mica / Saddle Tan Lux + for my sweetheart. It just got built and is ready to go on the boat. We expect it to get here around early-mid April. When we pick it up, we'll be a 2 GX550 family.

I am no expert, but what I am seeing in the Cincinnati area is that a monthly allocation for a dealership is in the 8-12 unit range (varies based on the dealership), and that is across all models. So, depending on what model/color you are after, a waitlist of 250 seems really long to me. I just waitlisted for an OT or OT+ and I'm already #2 for my top 2 color choices. I'm guessing that means there may be a total of 15-20 max for these models together. If I extrapolate this to the other models, I would think maybe in the 45-60 range. Total guesses.

Prior to placing my deposit, my dealer felt very confident that I would be fulfilled within 6 months. Based on learning that I'm #2 on the list for my color combos, I'm thinking this may be more like 4 months, but again, I'm just doing math and making assumptions here.
Thank you for doing the math! My brain has not been cooperating 😅 I reached out last week to the salesman that took our deposit asking where in line we were and he just told me there was a bunch of people in front of us 😒 I was curious because on that same dealership someone posted he placed the deposit en january and was #7 in line 🤷🏻‍♀️

Deposit in, confirmed MSRP. My local dealer is small market so not a high volume dealer. I was told they don’t take orders, is this common? Looking at what’s inbound for March (all pre-sold), they are all similar spec with more variability in the Overtrail vs the + model.
My personal experience only - local dealership here around Indianapolis (TomWoodLexus) will take down your "wish list" but I was quoted wait times from 6-9 months, and a "don't hold us to that" comment.

They also informed me that Lexus was not taking orders (this is around January 2025, my guess is they're not taking orders now either). Demand is high enough that I feel that they make whatever they want since people will keep buying them up.

I will say, none of the dealerships that I had an opportunity to speak with quoted me higher or lower than MSRP - that seemed to be relatively standard - no markups/discounts on the GX. Deposits ranged from $500 non-refundable (hard pass for me) and up to $2500 if they could secure an actual on-the-way inbound GX referencing its VIN#.

Good luck!

Well received a call last night from another Dealership in Houston offering us an inbound allocation with a vin on Luxury in exterior color we wanted. It obviously doesn't have all the options that the Luxury+ we were waiting on from our first Dealership but checks all the boxes for my wife. Gave them a deposit to hold it for us as it will be arriving mid May to mid June. My wife is super excited as she has been waiting for almost a year. Updates to come.

Ouch! That is a longer time than I expected. I'm in the Cincinnati area, I was told 3-6 months when I made my deposit (Feb 22), but based on the allocations happening MUCH slower than I anticipated, I'm now thinking 6-9 months may have been a better estimate.

And yes, it seems the days of any Toyota products "taking orders" may be over. Seems to be all allocations based.

Thanks.

I have been on the waitlist at the first dealership for 11 months and still didn't get an allocation. I had been reaching out to dealerships across the country to try and find one.
Do you have FACEBOOK? I did notice that this Facebook group (Facebook) frequently has dealers posting available GX550's~~

How did you manage to get a built and tracking info - the german OEMs usually do this!

I was interested in the GX but not in a hurry to purchase a new car. I test drove a GX L+ that wasn't sold (?) early February. Was told a $2K refundable deposit for either (a) an allocation, 3-4 months, no guarantees, or (b) they'd search other dealers also 3-4 months. I was unsure what color/trim I wanted so I passed. Salesperson contacted me mid-Feb, end of Feb, and early March. By 1st week of March I told him which one I wanted. Same story-they could search with required deposit and also mentioned they had an allocation coming in May. I asked to review the allocation...it had the one I wanted (P+, nebula gray, dapple gray) and no one on waitlist so I jumped at the deposit on March 10th. ETA was May 6th. The dealer doesn't post deliver windows on the web, I followed up again this Monday...delivery was updated to April 19, so I am a few days away. 6 weeks wait time, so I'm feeling rather lucky.

I did see another post where a GX buyer's dealer didn't post delivery windows, so they followed a similar VIN at a reasonably close dealer that did post windows to track their and said it was accurate.

I also saw another post that the largest Lexus dealer in Pembroke Pines, FL get huge allocations and will sell to out of towners. I did check their web site and they have lots listed, but not sure if they are in stock. May be a shorter wait list.

Put deposit down on 4/6 for OT+ Incognito / Black interior. This is a NY (Long Island) Dealer.
GM thinks about 6 weeks. Sales person think ~ 4 Months. We will see and update when I hear any updates.

Our sales associate provided us with the info. As an update, it was in Omaha as of last Friday, and he said he'd let us know when it reaches Chicago, from which point it will be a matter of a few days before it's here in Louisville.

Lexus of Louisville? I came across a salesman named Tom Seeforth who was trying to help me out... very nice and great follow up, I just ended up finding mine elsewhere. Wonder if he's your salesperson~ If so, I'd like to say you're in good hands~ haha 😄

Yes, Lexus of Louisville, but my salesman is Adrian Vogt. He did me right with the purchase of my OT last year, so when my wife was ready to get hers, we went to him, and he laid claim to a Nightfall Mica Lux + with 2nd row Captain's chairs (which was scheduled to be put on a boat) for her.

I do but don't get on it often. Thanks for the tip.
Our original dealership reached out today and our allocation should be here in June! This is the Luxury+ with everything we wanted. Reached out to the alternate dealer with the Luxury and canceled our deposit on that one. The wife is super excited.

We got a call from our sales rep today. We'll be picking up wife's Lux+ on Friday. She's super excited, and I'm excited for her.
