Waiting times for Lexus GX 550, how long did you have to wait?

In June for a prem+, I was told 4-6 months by Co Springs, 6 mo by Greenwood and initially 8 mo by Stevinson which was updated to three years when i called in August to get an update by a sales person who was angry as soon as I said GX waitlist.

I was hoping for a December arrival with that unlikely, I will likely wait until January and start shopping out of state.
I've lived a lot of different places and bought a ton of cars Denver was one of the worst in terms of dealers doing deals - on specialty vehicles - anyways. When I lived there I always bought out of state - KS, NE, IA, etc. I tried to join Greenwoods list when the GX was first announced and they were hell bent on charging for their security tracker/add on package.

They are indeed. $1000 for a tracker that I wouldn't want for free. Hoping the Springs dealership can get me what I want. Appreciate their approach so far.

I talked to a few dealerships in KS and they were only doing local sales then. But I'll be looking a few states away after the 1st of the year.

The springs dealer is where I ordered in May, and the OT+ they're getting next is what I'm allocated. I've been checking their site occasionally and they've been having a roll of 15 GXs in various states of order. Of course they're all spoken for.

Looking at the Facebook groups, you can start calling out state now, question is would you rather wait for a 2025 MY instead of getting a stragler now. It seems like Deep south states, Florida have stock coming that's no spoken for. I've already seen a few posts "we got 3gx coming in, who wants one".

Yea the Toyota and Lexus loyalist are strong here, GX is ideal for Colorado roads and weather. But I didn't expect GX550 to have these crazy wait lists akin to the G Wagon 5 year wait list crisis of 2020🤣.

Maybe it was Green Wood village or another, more towards west Denver. But the 2 year wait won't last. By next summer it will dissapate. The LACK of used GXs is contributing to the wait times. I figure 6-7 months, we will get a lot of used 2024s for normal prices, as people switch to the new hotness of 2025(with their 1in lift), the sheeple first time GX buyer dissapointed that's it not a BMW X5 ect. Also 6th Gen 4Runner will eat away section of market, people canceling orders ect

Same dealer contacted me about a used OT with 7k miles for almost 90k, not even an OT+ haha. Yeah no thanks.

I will be very picky until after the 1st of the year for a MY24. I will get by just fine this winter with my current vehicles. If I somehow didn't have one by May, I'd probably jump ship for a Yukon or a LC, really want it for summer rafting and overlanding which my current vehicles don't handle.

How was your experience with the Springs dealership? Did they let you edit port options? Dealer add ons?

So likely January will be the very last of 24s being delivered on, its the vics being build this and next week and vic getting on ships this month. The rumor mill is that 2025 "should" start arriving in Feb+. Which make sense, it's almost December, but the dealers are keeping quiet and there is no 25 builder on the main Lexus site yet.

As far as experience with the Springs dealer. I used to have a 2016 GX, that I took in a couple times and the service department been great, better than Mercedes across the street at the time.

Now for sales department it's been a bit lackluster. The big friction I'm having or could be having is back in May and even back in October they're refusing letting me register in a different state. I'm military and registering in my home state gets me sales tax exemption, it's a big deal cause it's a lot of money. Well they're treating it as an out of state purchase and not "local market", which is BS as I am their local market, I will obvisouly be servicing the vehicle with them. And this isn't new, my previous vehicle purchases were brand new and dealers didn't give a crap where I register. So this is a conversation I will have to have at delivery with the finance guy, cause if they force me to pay CO tax (4k), I will need 4k in savings or in extra warranty or maintenance. Because of high demand they can only sell for local market, it's a bit infuriating!

So I did order a GX in Utah my home state, as well! I bet they have the same rule as they asked for my address when getting in line. Guess what buying in Utah with Utah address will be buying out of state for me LITERALLY, becuase the vehicle will be going to Colorado and be serviced at Spring dealership. But I cannot order one in Colorado where I live 5 mins away from the dealer, cause it will be out of state purchase! Yea on "paper". So dumb!

Forgot to answer your question from my rant. I've only asked to add the dash cam at port and the answer was they will ask if that's possible, so no news if that ever done, I assume the vic is till on a ship. Luckily the options is exactly how I wanted, and small dealer addons like key gloves and door guard film is not a hill I'll die on, my tax exemption dilemma is the hill.

I was thinking the same about the 6th gen 4Runner. I think it was announce that Toyota is going to produce 100+k of them in the first year even with the delayed start.

That is a reasonable walk away point. Let me know how it goes. I'm looking at registering it to our mountain cabin to save on taxes as well.

Will do. None of these dealers are selling to "local market" they're selling to a local address, an out state buyer with a local address can buy the vehicle and drive it across state lines. Hopefully as demand normalizes they stop with this stupid rule
