I think the base system (non-ML) sounds pretty amazing! After reviewing other threads regarding disappointing performance of the ML21 I am even more impressed with the overall sound quality, imaging, separation, and surround effects on the base system. It seems to have a lot of low range power...
Another rather annoying issue with the fuel filler door hinge...if you haven't yet noticed...there is no 'spring action' on the hinge which will keep the door fully open and restrained when refueling. Which means if you're refueling on a windy day, that door will keep slamming into the fuel...
Folks, regarding the loose tailgate spoiler please consider this may have been a purposeful design decision at Lexus. Given the overall height of the vehicle this piece will likely strike overhead doors, parking garage roofs, etc. If this was a rigid mounting, the piece would crack and easily...
Just a poor design decision to have that side piece finished in satin chrome that can easily wear off in daily use. While it does look nice offsetting the black tread, it would have been a better approach to have the strip all black. Any inevitable wear on that trim piece would not be...
I never meant to imply that Premium+ has lighted door sills. The reference was for the running boards, not the lighted door sills, which I wish I had...
The cross rails fit the Premium + edition. All black with black molded caps all around and hardware kit with torque wrench. Load capacity is rated at 165 pounds. You can PM me if interested. Thanks!
There is no question that Lexus marketed the GX 550 series as a "rugged" vehicle. I guess if you don't get the Overtrail edition you get the "plastic" running boards. Unacceptable.
Please let us know what the remedy is, as I'm sure Premium / Plus editions will all have this condition at some...
That trim piece is actually molded plastic with a thin silver coating, not a paint issue as you would find on other body panels. Surprisingly, this trim is a light duty plastic. In my opinion it is not spec'd properly for its use environment, as it takes a fair amount of daily abuse from...
That doesn't sound right. My premium + has the puddle lamps on the outside mirrors, and the running boards have LED illumination for the rear passengers.
Thanks to all for the great recommendations. I now have the cup holder insert, console organizer, and the charging mat. One minor issue I see is that the charging mat blocks the indicator lamp in the tray that the phone is charging... it turns from green to orange... so now I wait for the...
You can also just press any button on the steering wheel e.g. audio volume, and the ACC will still think you're paying attention. No need to move the steering wheel. This works on other cars as well, even Tesla.
My backlit controls for defrosters and volume, along with the LHS memory seat and instrument cluster dimmer appear when you first unlock the doors and seem to be tied to the DRLs. If you don't start the vehicle, they do go dark after ~10 seconds and I hear a relay click off. But they remain...
Honestly, wind noise with the cross rails mounted was not that bad, only noticeable on highways under windy conditions. Now it’s barely noticeable but keep in mind the vehicle is a “brick”, not aerodynamic by any means.
My GX550 came fitted with the port optioned cross bars which also added $440 to the bottom line. Didn’t want them but as you know you get them anyway, with a lot of other stuff Lexus pushes out as PIOs.
For me, I have 4 reasons to remove them,
1. Wind noise. 2. Added height. 3. Not...
Important connected Phone advice:
Anyone who has setup a digital key with their phone, well Lexus has a safety feature I was not aware of. Yesterday I accidentally left my phone in the console charging tray. When I tried to lock the vehicle using the outside touch handle, I got a series of...
Premium Plus owners:
Can anyone please explain the purpose of this extra unused fitting on the driver’s side rear suspension circled in red? It does not exist on the passenger side. Apparently it is a 90 degree bracket with an unused mounting hole brazed to the frame, and no similar bracket...
I feel your pain! While I admire the overall fit and finish of the vehicle, I agree that some areas require special attention and extra care when cleaning. In addition to the wheels, the shiny black plastic cowling below the windshield is an area of concern. With all the abrasive dirt that...
Actually I don’t have a second data line. I have a series 3 iwatch, but if you don’t have your phone nearby you might need a later generation watch with built in gps / data this to work.
The iPhone app automatically appeared on my watch after loading the Lexus app.
Here is a complete listing of what you can do from your wrist:
remote engine start and stop
lock / unlock
control hazards
control lights
control horn
control buzzer
trunk lock / unlock
check fuel level / range /...
I also agree that the optional leather key glove is a poor design! However, I just realized we’ve all been installing these key fob cases incorrectly! There is a hidden elastic strap that holds the fob in place. It’s not perfect, but much improved!
Please see the attached picture. Hope this...
Not sure I understand the intent of the email by the OP. A better strategy would be, 1. take delivery, 2. drive it under various scenarios, and 3. provide feedback via the official Lexus sanctioned survey which they do in fact read and compile data. How do you provide valuable feedback to...
Thanks, that's great news. I plan on doing the same to store my carpet mats. Actually, the dealer advised that the limited availability of the all-weather mats at the port caused many delays in shipping the GX's to the dealer. Seems odd that something as simple as floor mats would hold up...
Can anyone please advise if the GX550 comes with carpeted floor mats in addition to the all-weather mats that are installed as PIO options? I'm picking up my premium + tomorrow. Thanks in advance!
Good question, but I think that's already figured into price for the PIO. Great idea to have both!
Similarly, what do they do with the extra wheel nuts when the wheel locks are installed? Would be nice to have them as a backup, just in case something happens along the way (like losing the...
