24 vs 25 OT OEM 1” Lift Details via reddit

Watching to see how this plays out. Nice to see that it is likely just a coil swap. So adding to the front would help level out if not loaded. Also may help to keep the stock 24' ride height after adding a higher clearance bumper and winch instead of a spacer.

I was told the Wescott leveling kit would not affect the warranty because that is the kit Lexus uses.
Someone lied to you. I can guarantee that Lexus does not use Westcott leveling spacer.

And yes they can void certain warranty if the lift kit caused the problem. I can see lexus denying the whole suspension warranty due to modification

How do we not yet know the details on this when there are now 2025 OT's driving around? Anybody have an update?
Yeah I had said I was visiting my dealer for 10k service. Little did I anticipate I got the rookie service rep and it’s been a struggle to get her to understand the ask.

Hi, I look forward to your info if you can get it. I'd like another inch but if the highway ride is not as good (body being a bit higher) and you lose 1 inch down travel, I'm not sure I'd make the swap. I am waiting around for some time to pass and see what the aftermarket lifts are doing to the ride, suspension life, warranty practicalities, etc.

Hey there, I'm actually the Reddit OP that JustHere4Research copied their text from. Here is the link to my reddit post that shows a few more details - parts diagrams and numbers (with issue dates): https://www.reddit.com/r/LexusGX550/s/rro1C7781v

If possible, I'd love to hear more about what Pohanka had to say about the kit - part numbers, rational, etc.

Like you, I'm not saying anyone is wrong, just trying to get to the bottom of this mystery as we're getting conflicting details from various dealerships.
Thank you for this outstanding research! According to my Lexus shop, the spring isn't yet available in the USA. The service manager at my shop couldn't find any details in his system about the new spring vs the old. It would be great to know how much of the 1" comes from coil length increase vs stiffness. I think someone will need to try to order from Japan, if possible, and then examine the 2024 and 2025 together.

Meanwhile, it's astounding what incorrect info some dealers give consumers who are new to IFS. The dealer service shops using the Westcott kit are particularly disturbing and seem to be preying on buyers who want an offroad look without understanding how spacer lifts can affect offroad capabillity.

Do you guys think ride quality on the 2025 springs is the same as 2024 ride quality?
Great question. Seems like an odd change to make 1 year into it. Wonder if the 2025 coils were a solution to perceived vibration issues in the OT (without saying as much).

Thanks for info on this. I'd like to swap the springs on mine if they become available here in the US. I'll be checking with my dealer when I take mine in next week for the 10,000 mile service.

Best,
Mark

when you purchase springs on lexus online, does is come in pairs? like 2 fronts and 2 rears? or do we have to order 2x front and 2x rear.

If we have to order 2 of each, parts alone is 1k.

Hi, don't know the answer to that, but bet it is per spring. I'll see if I can get info when I take it in next week or so.
EDIT: I just went online to Lexus OEM parts seller, and they list the springs separately. If you get all four, the online price appears to be all in $1,032. I am not going to order them until I talk with the service department here to see if they will agree to install them. May have to order from them, which would add a bit more, since the online service says they are discounting them.

A few updates and thoughts on this topic, would love hear this group's inputs on these development and poke holes my thinking to keep me honest. Sorry for the wall of words.

I have read and heard elsewhere (this forum, reddit, etc.) that the 2024 and 2025 Overtrails have the same ground clearance and suspension components. Even when speaking to Westcott sales, he parroted this falsehood in saying their engineer found zero differences between the '24 & '25 OT's suspension components. He went as far as to say "it was a sales gimmick by Lexus calling out increased ground clearance for 2025 OT models as it was already present on 24 OT's". Further, the fact they are using the same kit for '24 & '25 OT's indicates they believe that both years have the same suspension components.

Skeptical that a reputable outfit like Westcott would be wrong about this, I went to a Lexus dealership so I could compare '24 vs '25 OT clearances in person. Photos are attached and I apologize for any parallax error. Hopefully folks can see the difference between the two:

In summary: '25 OT's do indeed have a +1" lift compared to '24 OT's

I still believe that the spring coils are the only suspension component difference between '24 & '25 OT's. I've had this corroborated by the multiple Lexus parts departments willing to go down that rabbit hole with me. In speaking to Westcott, they said that installing their kit on a '25 OT would still yield the full +2.5" in the front.

If true, installing Wescott's Preload kit to a '25 OT means you would get 3.5" lift over a stock '24 OT height. As stated previously, '25 OT's have the exact same suspension components as '24 OT's except for the coils. In that case, you're essentially lifting a '24 OT +3.5" in the front. I wonder if this start's to become a concern for your UCA's, CV axles, etc.?

I've went ahead and pulled the trigger on the '25 OT spring coils for my '24 OT. Ordered through Longo Lexus:
2x Spring Coil Front - 48131-60U30
2x Spring Coil Rear - 48231-60Q00

I'll keep this group posted as things progress on my end. I'll be sure to post pictures comparing the two model year springs side by side as well.

ETA is mid-April but I'll very surprised if that is met.

A few other curious items that I've run into:

  • I believe Longo Lexus has error on their end, but in the event that I already have these springs on the rear (which I highly doubt) I've confirmed that I can return them
  • I'm fairly certain my '24 OT does not have rear coils "48231-60Q00" because my height measurements are identical to the '24 I cited in the attached pictures
  • When I plug my vin into the Lexus parts website, says "no vehicles found". Perhaps it's because my '24 is a very late production date? Does anyone else have this issue? They don't even have '25 GX550's parts listed

thanks, very helpful. Please keep us updated, because I'd like to do the same. I found the '25 springs online as well, but am going to wait until I go into my dealer next week and see if they will order them directly and install them. I hope I don't get pushback because of laziness or ignorance or both :).

This is a great write up! I initially tried the dealership where I bought my GX, they wanted nothing to do with even trying to help out. Called another dealer down the road and they came back with the exact same info you posted. They even said I already had the rear coil in mine, but also agreed that it didn’t make sense, but they are still looking into it and are going to try and reach out at the end of the week. Please keep us informed on your guys progress, thanks!
