Bluetooth and Carplay Issue

Has anyone else had intermittent issues with Bluetooth and Carplay? Around 1/3 of the time when I start the car, the Bluetooth isnt connecting and I cant force the connection from the car or from the phone. The only solution is to turn the car off and turn it back on, at which point it connects normally. I'm running an iPhone 12 Pro Max with the latest updates.

On a related issue, if I am on a call in the car and turn the car off while still on the call, then start the car within 15-30 minutes (post call) the car thinks I'm still on the phone and doesnt allow any audio for Radio, Carplay, etc.

I know some of these may be phone related, just curious if anyone else is having a similar experience.

Do you have the digital key set up? I had a similar experience after setting up the digital key with my iPhone. After removing the digital key, the issue went away. I have an iPhone 13 Pro

I don’t have the digital key (Overtrail). Probably should have specified for the thread. Thanks for the insight though.

I use Android Auto and it connects fine MOST of the time. I've had a couple times when it wouldn't connect unless I turned the truck off and started it again. Otherwise it is working very well so far.

Same here...I hear from the dealer it's a Toyota in general issue with the newish infotainment systems.

Anyone have any updates here? I've had mine for 3 months. Worked fine until about 2 weeks ago and now disconnects or never connects on average every other day. I have to delete my phone from the Lexus system and go through a complete reconnection...only to be disconnected again a day or two later.

I’ve been looking for a pattern. It may be that this happens if I take the GX out of Park before the phone finishes connecting. If I wait, I haven’t seen this connection issue happen

My iphone-carplay-bluetooth-whatever the hell else connects works flawlessly. Only once or twice has it had a hiccup since I picked up the truck on June 7th. I bought a new iphone 16 a couple weeks ago and it took about 30 seconds to get it set up on the GX and no issues since.

On past vehicles I've also noticed that shutting off the truck before ending a call sends it into a tailspin and it won't disconnect the phone. I've always made a quick call and ended the call and the truck-phone interface went back to normal.

I sometimes have that issue. I noticed it never happens when my phone is plugged with a cord to one of the two charging ports, I need to see which one I use

We inquired about this issue at our 10k mile service. From what my dealership is understanding it has to do with all the updates on the phones. Basically, the software in the car can't keep up with all of the updates the phones do. The software in the car only updates like yearly or so. They say the iPhones are having more issues than Androids.

My car’s sound system occasionally cuts out for a few seconds here and there. I’m not sure what triggers this issue. Apart from that, the only other minor problem I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t play music when I start the car or when I connect it to Apple CarPlay. Instead, it launches on the Lexus interface (even though CarPlay is connected).

Same issue but found a fix for iPhones
Tell your phone to forget your Bluetooth and WiFi connection to the GX
Update to iOS 18 or 18.2
Restart your phone and car
Now connect your updated phone’s WiFi and Bluetooth back to the GX
Connects upon crank up within seconds after I did that
